I am back. Been thinking hard, and i have made a decision to post again in this blog instead of the other one that limit the stories i need to share.

Why? Because i want to use this blog as an inspiration and also as a motivation for me to do my work well.

How? i really have no ideas, but basically i will just write whatever i do pertaining to what i need to do, and hopefully i can monitor the trend chart.

what? the work i need to do is rather life and death, at least to me. I need to have at least 3 papers this year, and i need to complete at least one by june. I have exactly five months to complete a single paper.

Having this blog will, firstly as a journal that tells my progress and secondly as a rough paper so that whenever i have any ideas i would just write something in it, using my blackberry so that i would not forget about it. Thirdly, to satisfy my needs to write without making me suffocated with the limitation i have created in the other blog.

Perlis Indera ka....

A month ago, I was in Perlis.

Emm, for the first time.

It took me around 9 hours to get there, and 10 minutes to visit the whole state, which is as large as Bangsar shopping complex. Well, that would be too much of an exaggeration isn’t it.

Oke Two Bangsar Shopping complexes!

Literally, if you move very fast from one end to another, you would not finish saying Perlis Indera Kayangan, you would probably stop at kaya.

But yes, It took us 8 hours to go there, after we missed a turn in Bidor, (then we missed a few other turns as well, let say around 6 turns and, the distance between the turn I should make, and the turn I actually made was around, let say 150 KM.

Hik, on the way to Perlis, I am supposed to pick up a friend in Lumut, but I was too busy looking for the signage to lumut, I forgot there isn’t any. So instead of taking the Bidor Intersection, we went all the way up to Taiping, and then make a turn to Lumut.

So that explains the extra 4 hours.

It was a fucking waste of time and money, but at least I know places now. Places I never know existed such as Changkat Jering, Terong and whatnot.

But, I was in Perlis, for the very first time. I meet Abun there.

Thank god I did not drive, and thank god the driver did not know that we were supposed to turn in Bidor to get to Lumut.

All he said was “rasanya dulu gih lumut 3 jam dah sampai, ni kenapa tak sampai-sampai lagi ek”

Hik.

I was there for a Misi Akademik. Misi Akademik is just one way to send lecturers for free vacation, all expenses paid and got paid extra allowance for it just to meet some SPM leavers and tell them why they should apply our university and not somewhere else.

Of course we don't lie, but we exaggerate every facts.

If you learn marketing, you would understand.

Anyway, Adi and Rosdin, my colleague was there too, but they took the plane, instead. I wanted to drive (which I regret the whole journey right after we reached Alor Star, and all the way back to Shah Alam)

Perlis is so colourful. Everything is very colourful there. When you were in the town, you feel like you are in a very enormous open air kindergarten.

The people, the food, the culture, I mean everything, including the building.

I met Sweet Abun there.He works in the immigration department there. So he took Rosdin and Adi to Hatyai, while I have to stay in the Hotel because the driver complaint that he was tired. So I cannot possibly leave him in the hotel alone.

It is so unfair, how come he can be sicked and tired at that moment, when he only droves from KL to Taiping to Lumut to Kangar to Penang to Kangar to Alor Star to kangar and back to lumut to Shah Alam.

Huh... some people are so ungrateful.

Anyhow,

I love the food in Perlis, everything taste so delicious. Probably because the Siamese influence in cooking to the local food accentuate the taste of food there. Every restaurant that sells lunch we went to, prepared an excellent arrays of food.

For a great lunch, I recommend this café under a very tiny hotel which I’ve forgotten the name of the hotel. But the hotel and the restaurant are situated just on the left side of the Sri Garden Hotel.

Oke that is my Perlis story.

p/s: i give myself 10 days, and after that i would most probably just go gaga.

I am so lazy lately to update my blog, for nor particular reason. Well, maybe for one reason, that I am just lazy to update the blog. Laziness can be a reason as well.

I have been tagged a few times, by fellow bloggers, and as promised I will try to answer it one by one, although I am not really sure, anyone would even bother to read it. My idea of going on a date would be
doing nothing, not even trying to find anything to talk just to impress our date that we know so much of anything, although knowing so much of anything really shows that we don’t know much of anything. Just sit there and stares at each other and shares drink while looking around to look for conversation piece and remind how everything look and resemble our date or the relation such as “the stars are so bright like your eyes” or “your chicken look so nice and succulent and juicy just like your lips” (so unromantic, yes I know) and work out the date until we finally come to the part where we said “my love to you is as much as the sand in gold coast Australia” or “I hate you because you are as bad as the Israelis taking advantages of the Palestinians”, which I prefer the latter than the former.

The worst punishment my parents gave me was… because I...
a good smack wallop with the buckle of the my fathers belt, on the eve of hari raya, although he did not intend to do it, but he was at rage and too mad at that time and tend to forget and somehow hold the other end of the belt, and was he surprised to see me cried my lungs out and twirl on the floor. Although the belt did not even touch my body, but you know how children can be such a drama queen.

And I got that punishment for a very minute offense, which most children would do. I mean, everyone has done it, it’s not unusual to poke flaming firecracker (the read one, with lots of smoke) to your sister’s butt because you think it would be funny, isn’t it.

Oh my father have no sense of humour at all.

It was funny at that time especially when I saw what big hole it made to my sister’s baju kurung at that time. We still talk about it until now, after almost 25 years.

My most extravagant splurge in the last six months is…
I bought a damn expensive car (at least with my salary, it is expensive), just because it look nice, although everyone told me not to do so (buying Korean car) and to tell you the truth I am not very sure I should because i am not really capable of doing it right now, and I am not really into korean car, and I am leaving the country soon for few years, but I bought it anyway because it look nice.

Then I bought a Gucci passport holder, for whatever reason I don’t know (which I used it as a wallet instead)

I bought a laptop, and last but not least I bought a Lacoste shoes which I don’t know when to use since I love more wearing the La Primavera sandals (which really look more like a RM10 slippers, although it does not cost RM10 at all) everywhere I go.

Nope, I don’t use credit card. I stop using it almost 2 years now.

And bloody proud of it.

If I can have a super-ability, I'd want to have...
The ability to read mind, although I don’t really care what people think of me (not really) but most importantly I want to know what other people think of someone else. For example if I am with B and C, I want to be able to read B’s mind so I know what he think of C (yes, so kepochi) and vice versa.

Emm, somehow I think, I have this ability already, especially after 7 years of learning economics in the university, we learn a lot on making assumption, assuming, make prediction and making false accusation.

No one, I believe you chart your own destiny and you need no one to motivate and tell you what to do, because god gives you brain to think for yourself.

How to get down fast! Basically you will never see me climb the highest mountain or any mountain for that sake. And I don’t need to ask the wisest man because we have internet and we can seek any answers there and to make your skills ability and knowledge better we can go to training and conference.

Do we actually need another airport?

Do we need another airport, when there are only two passenger aircraft provider?

We don’t know, but what we do know is, the government should not get involve when a duopolistic economy or when oligopolistic enterprise is having a strategy war. They will only disturb the equilibrium, thus affecting the economy due to enormous dead weight lost to the economy and society making the economy less productive, thus effecting social profit (environment, pollution, stabilize future price bla bla bla whatever whatever) and the profit of both companies as well.

The best thing is just to let those two industry play with their game, until both or one of the companies no longer have strategy to take that will benefit their organization.

Since the government have spent so much on the infrastructure using tax of the people, its best that they let them form a cartel and stop from competing with each others because they are only worsening the situation and take the two ceo’s head and knock both head to wall, and say…

Stop fucking competing with each other and start sharing will ya!!!

Let them prosper and actually makes profit for the betterment of the people in the long run.

We cannot develop correctly if the government keep on interfering wrongly at the right time.

Mr. Advisor, please read your economics textbook, will ya.

i want to say something

wanna say something before i forgot.

First, is about the development done by the new government in my state. There isn’t any, or I can’t see any big radical changes they promised before the election. All the projects and programs they are doing right now are the programs initiated by the previous government.

I think they should be more creative and coming out with breakthrough and revolutionary changes and think of development rather than staying safe with incremental and muddling through the old establishment's program. After all that is the reason why people choose them in the first place.

They want change!

Its been a while since the election, and nothing big ever happen really. Most people would say, its not fair because they are new and must give them ample time to adjust and comes out with strong state economic policy. However one should remember, they are walking into the office on a red carpet, and every infrastructures and facilities are being shoved in their face, unlike those previous one who need to develop theirs from scratches.

Not saying the old one is better, but the new one seems rather… well, the same.

But one thing I see is all the states assembly men are getting a bloody expensive plush exciting Toyota Camry.

For what ever fucking hell they do that?

And why do you need a toyota camry?

Are they getting more creative, vigor and productive driving a camry?

You tell me.

Secondly, I would want to say something about Obama, and we are all very happy looking at him, and thought what a wonderful man he is, and how he could be the new savior of world civilization and repair all the nonsense made by Bush.

One thing I would like to remind everyone, being the first black president, obama would have to be a very populist type of leaders and he would be restricted with lots of tensions and pressure from his lobbyist, political watch dog and also from his shadow cabinet i.e the republican.

And being a Christian and being born by a muslim parents and brought up in a muslim country, Obama cannot be showing too much sympathy to the muslim because he would be seen as supporting the muslim community, read : terrorist (in the eyes of the mat salleh), and being a non muslim himself, he should not be to sympathize with muslim at all, and that add the square roots to all the necessary evil (read: war and economics restriction, not the religion. all religion teaches about good deed)

It is just a simple mathematics and logic.

He might not agree with war, unlike his predecessor, but to keep the police state and world hero status of America and the Americans, he somehow need to exert some level of force to the muslim, read: terrorist country.

i dont know what to blog, because i lost the connecting wires to my camera and handphone.

phewwww.

Oh by the way, i bought 2 British India's shirts that was earlier priced at RM400 something and RM500 something each, then it was discounted to 200 something and then it is discounted with another 70 percent of the discounted price.

that is a lot of discount i tell you.

Yes, to show that the price of the shirt is very expensive they did not take out the previous price tag, instead they stick new one on top, and another one on top of it. So with some cautious handwork, we can work our way to the first layer stickers, and quickly snatched it from the rack thinking you are getting a good bargain, but instead you are actually buying a 3 year old consignment shirt and the tailor person tailoring the shirt in vietnam, or china or, india might have passed away few years ago.

But you don't really care about it since you think its ~~cheap~~ affordable.

But the quality of the shirt is good and the material is so nice when it touches to body, you feel so comfortable and sexy and because its British India and its supposed to be very expensive, you kinda have this feeling that you suddenly turn very handsome and dashing wearing it, like a frog changing to a prince kinda feeling, but actually you don't, instead you still look like a toad. Branded clothes have aura of its own, and it makes the wearer feel more confident.

So basically i bought a RM900 over pricccccedzzzeedd shirt for only a fraction of the price.

I dont really like it though. I like the other one, but they dont give discount to those shirt that look nice. They are not stupid, that is why they can afford to stick an outrageous price tag and still managed to sell lousy cotton shirt.

But, i still bought it, because why..

Because its British India!!!

Period.

So, what are you waiting for? Sales in British India, hurry up be a kiasu and go and buy unwanted things.

2. Award yang tidak seberapa ini telah diberikan oleh Sangkai (name can be very deceiving, actual person very handsome!) someone baru kenal through someone. He is a nice person and sensitive (yes he almost cried while blowing candles on his cake) who loves to write elaborated and very heavy issues, very opinionated blog concerning life, love and lack of love, and about his cats (11 of them) but at the same time like to drive car very fast in broad daylight because he cannot see well at night(very-very contradictory kan). eh aku kena ceritakan pasal orang tu ke sebenarnya ni.

3. 10 fakta mengenai saya.

i. Saya sangat pemalas. Bila saya makan saya tidak akan terus membasuh pinggan, saya tunggu dah penuh sinki baru basuh. Alasannya dengan cara ini akan lebih menjimatkan air dan sabun dan tenaga. Jika saya membasuh baju, saya akan mencampurkan semua sekali, dan tak tengok pun apa dalam poket baju dan seluar tersebut dan menyebabkan mesin basuh selalu rosak kerana membasuh duit syiling.

Pernah sekali saya terpaksa membuang beberapa helai baju dan menghantar baju dan seluar ke dobi semula sebab saya telah membasuhnya dengan tissue-tissue sekali. Bagi saya , utk semua perkara ada cara yang mudah untuk dilakukan, dan kita kena mempermudahkan segala-galanya. Walaupun selalunya gagal

ii. Saya sangat suka makan dan masak. Saya mampu menonton AFC selamat 10 jam berturut-turut dan boleh menghafal setiap bahan yang digunakan, walaupun begitu saya tidak pernah memasak atau mengaplikasikan apa yang dipelajari di AFC kerana saya suka memasak mengunakan teknik hentam kromo dan campak-campak sahaja. Namun begitu Saya tidak mengemari makanan sendiri.

Saya suka makanan yang mengunakan cili yang banyak tetapi tidak pedas. Bagi saya tukang masak yang hebat adalah mereka yang mampu mengunakan banyak cili, tetapi masakan mereka tidak pedas.

Maklumlah oghang nogoghi lah kato eh.

iii. Saya suka membaca. Apa sahaja saya baca. Saya membaca di mana sahaja, dan saya tidak boleh membuang air besar dengan tenteram jika saya tidak membaca. Tetapi buat masa ini saya terlalu suka membaca, menulis dan mengomen blog. Saya akan mengrefresh blog yang saya suka berkali-kali walaupun saya tahu, penulis itu baru sahaja mengepos blognya 10 minit sebelumnya, dengan harapan dia mengepos entri terbaru.

Kadang-kadang saya akan tersenyum sendiri dan berangan bila membaca blog-blog itu. Saya terlalu suka membaca rasa dan citarasa seseorang. Kadang-kadang saya rasa ada penulis blog yang tidak patut menulis blog sebab dia bodoh dan tulisannya membuat saya rasa bodoh membacanya, tetapi saya tetap membacanya juga, kerana saya terlalu suka membaca blog.

iv. saya adalah seorang yang sangat-sangat pemalu bila berjumpa orang baru. Selalunya saya akan mendiamkan diri dan melihat tingkah laku orang itu dahulu. Kalau saya suka dengan orang itu saya akan berminat utk mengenalinya lebih lanjut, jika saya tidak suka saya tidak akan membuang masa dengan nya lagi. Pada ketika itu saya akan membuat andaian apakah jenis masa depan yang sesuai dan jenis pembawaan atau bagaimana orang yang saya tidak suka itu dibela oleh keluarganya (selalunya saya beranggapan negetif).

Ironiknya pula, tugas saya memerlukan untuk saya bercakap kadang-kadang di hadapan 200 orang, (pernah mencapai 500 penonton). Saya bayangkan semua pendengar itu adalah tidak pandai dan saya perlu bercakap supaya mereka jadi pandai, walaupun selalunya saya melihat muka mereka seperti tidak faham dan tidak puas hati. Oleh itu saya hanya melihat telinga dan hidung mereka sahaja, seolah-olah saya sedang memerhatikan mereka. Tetapi sebenarnya tidak.

v. Saya suka bercakap. Walapun saya seorang yang pemalu, tetapi saya suka bercakap non stop secara tidak sengaja. Kadang-kala saya terus bercakap ketika saya sedang tidur dan kadang kala saya bercakap dengan diri sendiri ketika membuang air besar. Jadi untuk mengelakkan saya digelar gila, saya menyanyi ketika berada di dalam bilik air.

vi. Saya bercakap tidak henti-henti dengan diri saya dan dengan orang yang saya rasa selesa kerana saya terlalu suka berfikir. Saya berfikir sentiasa, ada je menda saya dok fikirkan. Dan selalunnya saya menjadi frust kerana apa yang saya fikirkan selalunya tidak dapat saya jadikan kenyataan, dan hasilnya saya memikirkan alternatifnya pula dan masih menjadi frust, dan seterusnya.

vii. Saya benci dengan orang bodoh sombong. Ada 5 jenis manusia di dalam dunia

a. Yang pandai dan tau dia pandai
b. Yang pandai dan tak tau dia pandai
c. Yang bodoh dan tak tau dia bodoh
d. Yang bodoh dan tau dia bodoh
e. Yang bodoh yang rasa dia tak bodoh

Kategori yang ke lima yang juga dikenal sebagai bodoh sombong itu menyebabkan saya terlalu membenci mereka. Saya rasa mereka tidak patut bercampur dengan komuniti manusia dan sepatutnya diciptakan zoo khas untuk mengurung orang-orang sebegini. Tetapi disebabkan jumlah orang sebegini adalah terlalu ramai dan tidak cukup zoo untuk menyimpan mereka, jadi saya terpaksa terima kenyataan bahawa saya perlu tinggal dengan mereka selagi saya ada ruang dan peluang untuk terus membenci dan memperbodoh-bodohkan mereka.

Hik.

Saya juga tidak boleh menerima orang yang rasa dia tau segala-galanya, and expect in everything dan merasakan diri mereka sehebat enstein dan jika, enstein tidak mencipta relativity theory, dia sebenarnya yang akan menjumpai theory tersebut. Cerita politik dia tau, cerita kimia dia tau, cerita kartun dia tau, cerita hantu dia tau, cerita biologi, cerita ekonomi, cerita pengurusan semua dia tau lah, walaupun sebenarnya mereka tidak tau (read : bodoh sombong). Kerana tuhan tidak pernah mencipta makhluk yang tahu segala-galanya. Malangnya sepanjang saya hidup, saya jumpa dengan orang seperti ini.

Saya selalu cakap, " its oke to be normal"

viii. Tetapi saya selalu tertarik dan terpikat dengan orang yang bijak. Saya rasa orang yang bijak pandai itu adalah seksi, romantic dan mengiurkan. Doctor, lawyer, statesmen, akauntan, pakar matematik, ceo multi national dan sebagainya adalah manusia yang seksi dan comel dan menarik. Walaupun orang itu nampak selekeh, bercermin mata tebal, rambut tidak sikat, memakai seluar di atas pusat dan sebagainya dia tetap nampak seksi. Lebih seksi adalah orang yang kaya. Ini kerana orang kaya tidak boleh bodoh, kalau dia bodoh dia tak kaya.

As oppose kepada orang yang tidak pandai dan berlagak pandai, secantik mana orang itu pun, saya nampak dia macam badut sarkas yang sebenarnya bodoh.

Tapi paling saya suka sekali adalah orang yang dilahirkan dengan talent secara semulajadi, atau orang-orang berseni. Ahli musik, pelukis, penulis, penyanyi, arkitek, pembuat bomb atom, dan sebagainya adalah paling seksi. Tapi mereka perlu dalam kategori orang seni yang hebat, dan bukan tangkap muat.

ix. Saya sangat suka dengan seni. Saya teringin menjadi seorang manusia yang cultured gitu. Saya suka kan music, dan cuba untuk mendengar dan appreciate apa saja bentuk musik, dan meyakini diri saya sendiri bahawa seni itu datang dalam banyak bentuk (walaupun saya rasa pening kepala bila mendengar music heavy-heavy metal yang ada sebut satan! Saya pernah bercita-cita untuk menjadi ahli musik, sebelum saya bertukar cita-cita untuk menjadi pelukis, sebelum saya bercita-cita untuk menjadi pereka fashion dan seorang chef. Sekarang saya bercita-cita untuk menjadi penulis, dan masih kekal cita-cita itu sehingga satu tempoh cita-cita itu berubah.

Something funny happened while I was giving lecture yesterday. I had a 4 hours straight class. Two hours of knowledge management tutorial*, which I chatted in the ym while they were busy doing their knowledge acquisition exercise, and followed by a two hours quality management lecture*.

*tutorial is when i sit and smile, lecture is when i talk non stop.

(yes i got paid to sit and talk, so sue me!!)

So my mood was not very good at that time (my mood was never good anyway) and I had not had taken my lunch, because I was busy doing something else. So being very hungry and mood swing, I kept on giving my lecture and talks for hours. Luckily the new students were being very attentive, because they somehow knew I am not in a good mood. Students are very good at this thing.

As I was talking, almost reaching the first hour, two female student walk in the lecture hall, and just looked at me and nodded a bit and quickly find their ways to the empty seats. I was disrupted so I stop talking for a few second. The whole class went silence. I was a bit upset and flabbergasted, but then I continue talking.

After a few minutes, they got up and walked out of the lecture hall and said sorry. They went into the wrong lecture hall. Everyone was laughing, and I myself cannot contain the smile on my face.

Then my mood was oke a bit.

So moral of the story is, sometimes in a most unlikely situation can actually changed to something positive, only if your keep your composure and being optimistic and open about it. Never jump to a conclusion and do not react too quickly without giving it a thought.

Those two girls were confident and they were actually very early to their class, if their class starts at five that is.

Life is like a birthday cake. You bought it yourself, you cook it, or someone can buy it for you. Either way, you can't eat all of it. In fact you are not supposed to. You either bite a piece out of it, and give the rest to everyone else. You can, if you want, keep everything to yourself, and be happy and merry about it, at the expense of being fat, or you can possibly eat all if it if you want, and if you did that, it would not be a birthday cake.

It’s just a merely plain cake, with no value to it.

Or unless you buy those bite size single cup, cupcakes that you can eat a couple of it without feeling you have done sin, but then again, no one in his right mind would only buy one cupcake for his birthday and invited the whole citizens of the republic of china but only have one cupcake. You will be cursed till death.

Oh, wait a second. I had that once. Long time ago, when my two very broked friends back in ampang, in the year 1932 during the world great depression after world war 1 in 1918 and before world war 2 in 1940s (see i still remember world history), dimmed up the light, lit up a candle and sang birthday song, and while i was being very happy and all and literally run to the cake, and was actually suprised when i saw it was only a 20 cent cupcake, which they sticked a very large candle to it (the kind you use when the electrity went off) which they bought from i don't know where. I had the impression they actually took it from the chinese small tokong in front of the apartment, because they once did that when they brought back home dozens of Mandarin oranges and gave it to me, and laughed like an idiot (crazy bastard) when i actually ate those mandarin oranges.

fuck.

A birthday cake needs to be shared. Just like the 20 cent cupcake, i actually divided it into 3 little pieces.

Oh i miss them so much.

Anyway,

Why am I talking about birthday cake?

For apparent reason, I had too much birthday cake last month. Too many of them! Not that I am complaining. In fact I am actually delighted and pleased for it because it shows that I am being loved.

There were actually 5 of it. One from the office after the faculty meeting, and after being constantly reminded about my responsibilities; one at home with family which I share with my brother and 3 other nieces and nephews who were born on almost the same date; one from my close friends in the university with some other friends around my housing area, which share the same passion like me (read: special and different) while having karaoke session in Klang; one from my pet brothers and sisters all those very popular people while having karaoke session in Shah Alam (who made me wait for an hour in a restaurant, and almost left because the were late buying cake); and another one with that someone I always talk about.

Try beating that!

All five of it bring tears of joy running through my very plumped cheek.

Enough of these birthday cake stories already. Its 2009, and your birthday is like one month ago.

Anyway, these shows that all my friends are mostly separated. I have too many groups of friends. And, they either don’t know each other, or I personally clustered them differently for different reason and different occasions. I don’t really think that’s healthy because having too many separated groups take too much energy to handle. I mean friends being friends, that you do is just get to know them and be friend with them and all, and then draw the line there. This is what most people would do, and select only a few and keep them as your close friends. But I can’t seem to do that.

Someone told me that I am too dependent on my friends and tend to get too close to them, until they become very attached to me. In return they themselves become very dependent on me and somehow the effect I had on them is too large to just be considered as friends. I got to close to them and it somehow change the relationship to more just then a friend.

Understand?

I don’t really have problem with that. Accept for 2 things. One I am always facing problems when I need to choose activities between them and later told by one side that I am not being fair, and secondly I get too emotionally attached I can really feel their pain when something happen to them, and it somehow effected me as well.

Eh, I was talking about cake wasn’t i? and I am supposed to talk about sharing.

Anyway, life is like birthday cake and about sharing and giving back what ever you have to them. Them, here refers to friends, family, my students, the neighbour, the society, the government, the country, the world, the environment and most importantly to god.

For example whatever I learned before or any training I got, I need to return it to the students, and they return it to the society in what ever way possible. Then every month, I got some pay for it, and I need to return some back to the government as taxation, some to my family, but mostly to the bank (sod it), and the institutional fund that granted my education and just keep a small potion for myself to use monthly which I somehow will give it to someone else, and keep some in the bank to use later which somehow I need to use to pay to someone in exchange of a product of service later.

And this does not only involve money, it involves many things as well such as your energy, your love, your spirit, your smile, your grievances, your sadness, your happiness and eventually your life. In fact what ever you have is not actually yours to keep. You take a small portion of it, and give everything else to others. The only thing you can keep is the memory of you sharing everything else with others. And that memory is actually not important at all. Or you ended up being call "pengungkit", so you just keep quiet about it.

And somehow, what ever you have right now are actually results of everyone else sharing and giving it to you.

Aiyaa, I don’t know what I am supposed to write about actually.

Why on earth am I talking about all these nonsense also I don’t know.

What you give, you will get back!

But, since i am a very nice person and always optimistic, i like to open everything with a positive notes.

You just wait. You sucker. Because let me tell you something. life is never fair, and you will be rewarded for what ever you do.

new semester

Another year, another semester. New faces and new challenges. Its not getting easier, works compiling and my table does not look like what it was a year ago. I look more like a dumpster now. It takes me hours just to find my pen.

I am an expect in procrastination, believe in last minute works usually produce fantastic job. Since the adrenaline rush to the whole body, gives you that tingling sensation somehow makes you more creative. That is not the case now because somehow that tingling sensation starts to centre on the heart area. So before I end up in a hospital and link to wires that linked to a machine, I should do something quick.

Class has started a week ago. I got 4 hours of lecture, 8 hours of tutorial, 2 hours of research supervision, and 4 hours of proposal supervision. That makes a total of 18 hours per week. Quite a handful for a lecturer I tell you. Some other universities for example only limit contact hours of only 6-8 a week. But then again, it is better than what I had in my previous university.

Total subject to be taught is 2 with 6 research papers to supervise. The total number of students this semester is around 200. That is a lot of papers to mark. Just imagine this semester alone I need to mark at least 200 mid term exam, 200 final exam, at least 70 individual assignments, 30 groups assignment and 2 proposal reviews and I research report. By the time I am done with this semester, I will have to buy new spectacles.

Total papers to write, 2, one for national and another one for an international conference, excluded the student’s manual cum text book. Total conference to attend 2 at least, and total training hour to finish this year is 56 hours. There is a conference in Madrid, I am eyeing on that one. But that if only I can finish the research on time, which I don’t think I can. And I’ve already rejected a summer school in Germany because it took so long to complete it.

I will update how the classes going later.

New Year Resolution.

I must write something. That is the whole point of having a blog. You write something in it. And New Year has started, and bloggers are supposed to write about New Year and New Year resolutions.

But I don’t have any, and I am lazy to write about my non existence resolution, especially when your last year resolution did not materialize at all. None of it.

So I might as well write about something else.

Emm, let me see.

Hack, I have nothing to write about now. Actually i have a lot of things to write about, but i am kinda lazy. So might as well I don’t write about anything just yet, and wait till the mood comes.

However, to share some information, last year seems to be a very good and exciting year to me. Mostly involves exciting people.

Anyway, to everyone, hope you have a wonderful and prosperous year ahead, and a productive one too. For those businesspeople, please be sure that you planned all your things carefully, and have all the necessary security measures ready especially in the 3rd and 4th quarter of the year. 2009 is said to be a not so good year for businesses.

Just hope and pray everything goes well.

And for the fucking Zionist Israel regime, i just hope they just drop dead, and go find a country already. Enough is enough.

Dalam konteks yang dipermudahkan, dalam erti kata bahasa, civil society dikenali sebagai masyarakat madani.

Namun begitu, banyak kerti kata lain yang sering dikaitkan dengan istilah ini dan sering digunakan dalam makna yang berbeza-beza. Jika di dalam bahasa inggeris, civil society di ertikan sebagai kontraposisi kepada sebuah masyarakat military. Tapi pengunaan masyarakat civil dan masyrakat madani mempunyai pengaruh yang berbeza-beza. Untuk tujuan penyelarasan kita terima pendefinasian masyarakat madani ini sebagai civil society.

Terdapat berbagai karektoristik masyarakat Madani, di antaranya adalah.

1, wujudnya integrasi ekslusif antara individu-individu dan kelompok dalam masyarakat melalui kontrak social dan kerjasama social.

2.Terdapat gabungan kekuasaan yang besar sehingga semua kepentingan masyarakat dapat didominasi oleh kumpulan besar, tetapi dapat dikurangi oleh kekuatan-kekuatan alternative.

3. terdapat program-progam pembangunan yang didominasi oleh pembangunan yang berasaskan masyarakat.

4. Kepentingan-kepentingan individu dan Negara boleh diserap kerana terdapat organisasi-organisasi sukarela yang mampu memberi kesan kepada keputusan pemerintah.

5. Kreativiti akan berkembang dengan baiknya, kerana tidak dihalang oleh pemerintan yang berbentuk totalitarian.

6. Tahap kesetiaan (loyalty) dan kepercayaan (trust) yang tinggi kerana semua individu mengakui hubungan dengan orang lain dan tidak mementingkan kehendak individualistic.

Dan lain-lain lah.

Dari , beberapa citi tersebut bolehlah dikatakan bahawa masyarakat madani adalah sebuah masyarakat demokratik yang mana semua ahli di dalamnya menyedari hak-hak dan kewajipannya di dalam masyarakat, menyuarakan pendapat, dan mewujudkan kepentingan-kepentingan, di mana pemerintahannya akan memberi peluang yang seluas-luasnya bagi membugarkan kreativiti rakyat untuk mewujudkan program-program pembangunan di wilayahnya.

Shah alam adalah sebuah contoh bandaraya yang telah diangkat sebagai bandaraya Madani. Pembentukan sebuah masyarakat Madani ini telah dibuat sejak sekian lama ketika seseorang itu telah menjadi orang penting di dalam negara lagi. Lama dah tu. Malahan, perkataan yang cukup asing ini sendiri telah diperkenalkan oleh beliau.

Sebagai contoh, misi dan visi Majlis bandaraya Shah alam sendiri meletakkan pembangunan Masyarakat Madani ini sebagai teras kepada kewujudannya,

MBSA telah menjadikan nilai-nilai pembangunan mampan sebagai agenda utama dalam melaksanakan pembangunan sosial, ekonomi dan fizikal Bandar raya Shah Alam berjaya dicapai, selaras dengan usaha ke arah Bandar raya Mampan dan wawasan “Menjadikan Shah Alam sebuah Bandar raya bestari yang indah, berdaya maju dan harmonis dengan alam sekitar ke arah mewujudkan masyarakat Madani melalui nilai-nilai pembangunan mampan”.

The sweetest birthday this year.

I don’t really like birthday, because it reminded me of my ever increasing age. I hate being an aged person, and lately, article on botox somehow seems very interesting. Emm... I used to dread those people using botox and always think that everyone should age naturally and natural look is the best way for someone to live his life. Now I am becoming more acceptive (is there such word as acceptive) towards people using the drug that kill muscle tissues.

And also, i realised when you reached 35 like me, your concern and priority start to change. You will be concerning more about you reaching 40, rather than wasting time remembering and reminiscing about your sweet 30s and 20s. You keep on thinking about things you have not yet achieve and have not done. And you realized that time is getting limited and it will not wait for you.You start planning more stuff to include in your yearly, monthly, daily activities so you don’t miss things so much. Not that you actually care about it and do it, but you care about the planning part. Maybe because of reading too much motivational books.

Or otherwise called the premenopausal syndrome for unsuccessful male.

But I like birthday celebration, especially those secret ones.

Especially when it is yours and your friends took liberty and spent their time planning to surprise you with cakes and goodies and tried as best as possible to keep it a secret from you, and you somehow knows it , especially when your friends suddenly being very nice to you and take you too karaoke and kept on looking at each others and nod their head as if they are communicating telepathically as if you are not in front of them. You know you are in for a surprise.

And that what actually happen the night before Christmas when some friends gathered and bought cake and food and sang birthday song. What do you do about it? You try to look as suprise as possible and show your happy face lah. What else.

But i was actually very happy and excited about this year's birthday, for some reason i can't explain. Maybe because of the cake, but most probably because i know i am being loved, by friends or someone.

Thank you Richard, kimi, erin and her bf, raz, za, pek nga, for the birthday bash. You people are the best. I celebrated my birthday 4 times this year with 4 different groups of people, but I like what you people did the most, because there was actually a real cake involved.

The next day was Christmas. Zubir and I went to Mimi’s apartment somewhere in OUG. She organized a BBQ party by the pool. Mimi’s house is just beside Mawi’s apartment. Yes Mawi, the famous singer who recently got married. He is not staying there anymore, but if anyone like mawi and want to see how his apartment door looks like can go to Mimi’s house.

So there were the 5 of us, Mimi, Uncle A, Waiem, Zubir and i having a blast roasting chicken, and gossiping and do what ever people do when bbqing

Going to her house was easy, but getting out from that area wasn’t. We somehow got lost between the confusing road and was actually led to an open Christian grave area. I quickly made a detour back and then was totally lost and almost gave up, not before we come across a Chinese house having a funeral function with a casket in front of the house in this housing area name Taman Tan Yew Lai. How could we get from OUG to this taman Tan Yew Lai don’t ask me, i never know it exist this place. It (the cemetery and the casket) really woke every sense and nerves before i saw a lorry I quickly followed it and prayed to god that lorry is not heading to another funeral or graveyard.

Luckily it did not, I takes us to the main road of Puchong Kinrara. Yes, I don’t know how we can get from OUG in Klang Lama using the PJ route, to Taman Tan Yew Lai and then to puchong kinrara. I sometime amazed myself with my own ability to act stupid. From Kinrara we headed to Kesas and reach Shah Alam in a record time of 2 and half hour.

Hik hik.

Home at last, then i chatted for a while then I went to sleep.

Oh, i want to show something. Mimi have this Mainecoone cat at home and this cat is as big as a dog. Its bloody gigantic and that was my first time ever experienced holding a cat as big as that.

Cute isnt it. It look small in the picture, but look at the picture below you can see how big the cat actually is.

See!!! the cat front leg is as big as mimi's hand.

I really want one of those... I want a mainecoone.

Anyway, the next day, after over sleeping, i mean really-really over, mothers woke me up, while i was busy dreaming playing in a field full of very large cats. Mother asked me to take her to the nearest pond so she can fish. She like fishing so much, and I myself have not fish for quite sometimes got all my gear ready to go fishing as well

When I got to my car, I saw one of the tires was punctured. When I try to take out the spare tire i realized that the right rear tire was also flat.

Just imagine if it went flat at the cemetery. I think I will just drop dead there.

I called Raz and told him about the flat tires and asked him for some favour. Raz took me to the shop and before that we made a short stop at the ATM machine. I have only one hundred ringgit with me, and took out another RM300. Then we made our way to the tire shop.

The Chinese mechanic said, there is nothing wrong with one of the flat tires while the other one have nail attached to it. Obviously someone did something because the other tires are just occay, but it had no air.

This is not the first time it happens to my car. Some idiot around my house must have done it. I curse him and his family of eternal misery. And if he has a car, I swear on his grandmother’s grave he will get into a freaky accident because of a flat tire. Hopefully he is not dead, and dread the things he had done before, for the rest of his life because he no longer have leg or both legs, or blind or have one of his hand missing, and no one can find the hand, because it got detached from the body and flew into a moving cement mixer lorry and end up in a concrete wall of a 40 floors high rise building.

Anyway, the mechanic took no more than 2 minute to repair the problem and it only cost me RM5.

Bloody bugger, and now I have 400 cash with me and I cannot have cash, because I will try to finish it all off because I hate carrying cash around, and I will end up in a supermarket buying things I do not need such as red and purple coloured boxer (because I already bought the blue, yellow, pink and grey one last week, so I need the complete set) or sets of teapot and teacup because I just love tea set. Mother has asked me to stop buying tea set long time ago because she has no place to put it anymore.

So i think i will buy more boxer.

Selamat menyambut Awal Muharram, and also Merry Christmas and happy new year to everyone.

I am kinda lazy to write a full report of my boring daily life activities, so inspired by panzer KISS version of reporting here goes.

I was happy for a while
then we had a fight
then we went back to normal
then that someone went back up north.
then that someone came back for my birthday a few days afterthat, with two bottles of budu
had a fight
then we are oke
then took 3 important person to genting highland.

Cannot do anything really, forgotten its December and it rains in genting highland. And it was a Sunday, so every tom dick, harry, mary and jane, including kumari and swee lin was there.

Started the day trip very early around 9am. Reach gombak, and look for nasik dagang, since most of the community there are either from Kelantan or Terengganu. Could not find any nasik dagang, opted for roti canai mamak instead. Eemm

Quickly go to gombak lrt station, and was frustrated the next available bus was around 1 pm. 3 hours wasted looking and imagining what fun we will miss for not making it early to genting. By the way, the ticket also said, the bus ride back is around 6.45.

We have a fucking 5 hours or utterly blissful happiness in the taman keriangan genting highland.

Bus was 5 minutes early (yeahhh), arrive the genting cable car centre around 1.45. quickly had a quick fag and run to the cable car. Was astonished to see the number of people in the cable car station. Took more than an hour just to line up before, we can get into the cable car. It was already 3 pm by then.

Now the blissful happiness time is left to a merely 3 hours or so.

Upon reaching the kota keriangan, quickly look around for ways in the maze like and signboard to the outdoor theme park. The idea was, we would spend 2 hours in the outdoor and another 1 hour in the indoor theme park.

Managed to locate the main entrance. Could not see anything the fog is literally blinding everything. Most you can see is anything below 4 meters away, other than that you can only see white cloud. To make matter worst it was also raining.

So everything was closed and under maintenance.

Fuck.

Spend almost an hour just to look if anything actually works, and found one. The flying elephant, where you ride the elephant and it swirl around with the speed of 1 km an hour for 5 minutes.

If I want to ride those thing, might as well I just spin myself silly in my room. So no one interested, run inside the indoor themepark and was frustrated to see that you have to pay most of the interesting games/activities at least RM25 each and your RM47 ticket is just crap. And the free ones have queue the length of the Great Wall of China.

Skip all the activities and headed to food court and living a big hole in your pocket. The cheapest item was the mineral water and it is already priced at RM3.20 each.

Goodness, they are really making money out of anything in genting. Luckily the toilet is still free. I wonder if they charged RM1 for the toilet and everyone will just pee and pass motion in the outdoor theme park. I wonder if they have actually tried to charge for the toilet. Looking at the situation I think they had.

Anyway, the only things the 4 of us could do were to watch each other and took pictures of ourselves looking as happy as possible. It is not an easy task having all the disappointment plus my legs are aching like crazy from all the walking and waiting in queue.

Really hate those bugger, just because the are OKU, they don't have to queue. This is just not fair. I am also disable what. In some countries, obesity is considered as disability.

But someone played some of the game where you pay RM3 for a ball and you try to throw the ball inside a very impossible small hole and gave all the prizes to me. How romantic. That includes a small bear wearing Santa costume, a slinky, a mug and a stupid genting highland small notebook.

Well I was a bit happy, actually.

Around 6 quickly walked to the cable car station and waited another ½ hour in the cable car. Reaching down almost 6.30 made it in time for the 6.45 bus, except for a small incident where someone forgot that he left the ticket at the table and the Bangladesh worker took it and threw it in the garbage bin.

The bus had to wait for us while we scrutinized every garbage bin like a group of idiots and luckily we found it in the garbage bin before the bus driver’s happy face actually turn to a dismay blue. He was happy at first because he thought it was funny we misplace the ticket, and he wasn’t happy when it took us to long to looked for the ticket.

Around 8.30 pm reached shah alam, and the only things that can trim down our frustration was a cheap buffet.

Had a buffet dinner (which only cost RM9.90 including drink, no kidding) in Naluri Section 9.

Goes home and weep in sorrow.

Fucker.

Then had a call from the office, I need to go to the office because some students had to take the special exam to graduate. I was on leave until Christmas, but being the most junior, I cannot say anything so I went to work the next day and invigilated the exam while listening to Britney spears Womanizers over and over again for 3 hours and actually dancing behind the hall were no one can see me.

now I am lonely again.

I really hate this I tell you.

Nak cerita pasal musik-musik sikit boleh tak?

Ni nak cerita ni, pasal beberapa perkara yang menjelekkan. Satu pasal lagu-lagu dalam etnik kreatif satu pun tak best. Macam hampeh taik kucing. Kecuali lagu Mawi dan Heliza tu (aiyaa, apa aku cakap ni). Anyway, Mawi tak perform sebab pergi ke jenjalan. Hik.

Pastu, pasal lagu Dingin, Ziana Zain. Lagu tu aku suka gila, sebab sapa tak suka Ziana Zain kan. Sapa tak suka Ziana Zain, orang tu gila. Kalau Ziana Zain nyanyi lagu NegaraKu pun, aku tetap suka gak. Sebab dia Ziana Zain. Period.

Anyway, lagu tu mula-mula tak dapat masuk final, tiba-tiba dapat pulak. Walaupun musik-musik dikatakan mengadili sesebuah lagu berdasarkan Arrangment dan Lirik, dan sedikit dari persembahan. Jadi kalau lagu itu sudah pun tewas di separuh Akhir, apa dia punya kemungkinan untuk menang? Sebab walaupun semua tidak tahu kedudukan 4/5 lagu balada yang masuk ke dalam final, tapi semua orang sudah tahu lagu itu diadili ketika itu berada di tempat ke 6.

Jadi kalau tempat ke enam balada, boleh ke jadi juara. Jadi untuk apa dimasukkan di dalam Final. Adakah dengan alasan, lagu itu mungkin berjaya mengungguli Juara lagu kerana juri-juri telah ditukar, tidakkah ia akan menimbulkan persoalan...

ADAKAH JURI-JURI DI DALAM SEPARUH AKHIR ITU PEKAK, DAN BODOH???

Jadi kesimpulannya, Lagu dingin nyanyian Ziana Zain (Artis wanita paling cool Malaysia) tidak boleh menang, kerana ia akan mengundang kontroversi dan menyebabkan kredibiliti AJL sebagai busuk sebusuk busuknya.

Walaupun, mungkin tidak sebusuk persembahan, lagu dan DIOR sendiri.

By the way, who in his right mind, whould choose Dior as a name.

Anyhoo. kenapa dia perlukan Ziana Zain di dalam AJL?

Adakah kerana mereka terkejut mendengar tepukan gemuruh dan gerak gempita Dewan Kecil Studio 3, ketika Ziana Zain mendendangkan lagunya? Jadi Ziana Zain yang dirasakan tidak releven lagi dalam AJL sebenarnya adalah asset yang tidak boleh dibuang untuk final nanti?

Emm, Ziana penyanyi yang hebat sebenarnya.

Mereka perlukan Ziana Zain utk menarik orang ramai menonton AJL, sebab Mawi busy.

Apa kata kalau Ziana Zain pun tarik diri jugak. Baru le cool kan.

Anyway, ini nak cerita sedikit pasal filem The Day The Earth Stood Still. Filem ini adalah satu filem remake tahun 1950an selepas zaman perang dunia ke 2 yang menjadi satire kepada keadaan dunia ketika itu, dengan pembangunan bomb atom dan sebagainya. Untuk tahun 2008, isu-isu yang dibincangkan terdapat sedikit perubahan.

Aku menyesal menonton sepanjang perjalanan cerita itu. Sumpah, ada beberapa orang yang keluar panggung dan ini jarang berlaku pada filem hollywood terutama pelakonnya adalah sehebat Keanu Reeves.

Tanpa sebarang promosi besar-besaran, aku tertipu bila melihat previewnya ketika menonton filem James Bond: The Quantom of Solace. Dan minat yang membuak-buak untuk menonton filem tersebut adalah kerana Keanu Reeves semata-mata. Dengan harapan mengunung, cerita ini adalah sehebat The Matrix.

Plot ceritanya adalah mudah.

Sekumpulan alien telah dihantar ke dunia untuk melihat perkembangan tamadun di Dunia. Sorang dihantar ke USA (mana lagi ya tak?) sorang lagi dihantar di China Town, USA juga. Emm, tak tau le beberapa orang lagi yang dihantar, tapi yang nampak dua ekor alien tu je lah. Tapi bukan dalam bentuk alien.

Mereka telah bertukar dalam bentuk manusia. Ini kerana mereka khuatir kalau mereka datang dalam bentuk bukan manusia, manusia akan ketakutan, dan tidak mampu berbincang. Tetapi kalau manusia dah tengok ko datang dalam bebola sebesar stadium dan badan berlampu lip lap dengan robot pembantu sebesar bangunan tak ke orang dah seram sejuk dah.

Anyway, dari segi cerita pula....

Kisahnya, dunia ini sebenarnya bukan milik manusia tetapi milik alien. Manusia adalah species yang dibenarkan tinggal di dunia. Tetapi alien buruk siku itu hendak balik dunia ini kerana manusia tidak menjaganya dengan betul, dan akan memusnahkan bumi. Jadi alien itu datang ke dunia untuk melihat keadaan dunia dan juga untuk bertemu dengan world leader yang akan bersidang di Amerika (mana lagi) , untuk memberi ceramah dan membuat kempen menjaga kesejahteraan dunia.

Tetapi, state secretary of America, tidak membenarkan dia bercakap di persidangan itu, sebab dia seorang alien.

Hummmmmmmm...

Jadi kerana tidak boleh membuat kempen kesedaran alam, dia menjadi frust dan dia berjumpa seorang lelaki Cina Tua (yang jugak seorang alien) di sebuah restoren di China Town, dan alien itu terus bercakap Cina dengan lelaki cina tersebut. Walaupun dia boleh je bercakap dalam bahasa alien, dan mengaku itu adalah bahasa russia.

Tapi nooooooooooooooo...

Keanu Reeves mesti bercakap dalam bahasa Cina yang bunyinya tunggang langgang sekali.

Selepas mereka bercakap dalam bahasa Cina, tiba tiba orang Cina itu membuat summary dalam bahasa Inggeris pulak. Rupanya orang cina itu boleh berbahasa inggeris. Sebab dia dah duduk kat Amerika 70 tahun.

Apa yang dorang bincangkan? Keanu Reeves, Alien yang dihantar untuk memusnahkan manusia di dunia, meminta lelaki cina itu membuat liputan mengenai keadaan bumi. Lelaki cina yang sungguh kontradiktori itu mula-mula mengutuk orang bumi, tiba-tiba dia menjadi sedih dan tidak mahu meninggalkan bumi.

Pada masa yang sama, bebola-bebola seumpama guli berbagai saiz telah dihantar ke bumi, dan ada yang memang ada di bumi telah mula mengutip spesis-spesis binatang-binatang di bumi ini. Untuk dihantar ke Zoo di planet mereka. Sedangkan mereka ada teknologi untuk mengclon manusia, tetapi mereka tetap nakkan spesis-spesis ini.

Kiranya macam Bahtera Nabi Nuh, yang akan mengangkat semua makhluk dan bila Alien itu sudah masuk mood pemusnah, tiba-tiba beberapa ekor lipas elektronik bercambah secara miosis dan mitosis dan menjadi banyak seperti ameaba binatang satu sel yang terbelah zigotnya menjadi berbillion-billion banyakkan dan memakan apa sahaja menda yang dilaluinya. Termasuklah semua barangan berasaskan karbon dan bukan karbon.

Very der pengkisahan bagaimana serangga-serangga dan memusnahkan semua tanaman dilepaskan zaman Nabi Musa menentang Firaun yang degil itu.

Moral yang cuba disampaikan adalah Tuhan itu tidak wujud, tuhan itu sebenarnya adalah Alien, dan kita semua ini adalah duduk menumpang di bumi atas belas kasihan alien semata-mata. Dan kisah-kisah di dalam Bible (yang juga ada di dalam Quran) disebut dan diadaptasi dalam bentuk lain.

Macam-macam cara orang musyrikin buat untuk memesongkan pegangan kita. Kalau budak-budak tengok, memang pemahaman mereka akan berubah terus. Tapi, bukan itu sahaja yang menjengkalkan.

Infact segala-galanya tentang filem ini menjengkelkan.

Lakonan-lakonan yang sungguh tak best langsung, plot cerita dan script yang bosan, pemilihan prop yang sungguh bodoh dan nampak murah, dan logik yang tidak masuk akal tetapi di explain untuk memudahkan penerimaan, semua sekali lah tak best. Sungguh membosankan.

Dan di akhir cerita, adakah alien yang tidak beremosi yang mempunyai teknologi hebat yang boleh mencantas sistem telekomunikasi di bumi dan mengetahui segala perkara di bumi, dan mempunyai seorang alien lain yang berada dibumi untuk membuat kajian selama 70 tahun, dan boleh berbahasa dalam banyak bahasa, dan mempunyai ilmu yang hebat yang dihantar ke dunia ini memusnahkan bumi?

Dah sah-sah lah jawapannya tidak, kerana walaupun dia telah tahu banyak perkara, tetapi dia berubah fikiran bila ada seorang wanita telah membawanya berjumpa dengan seorang rakannya pemenang hadiah noble, dan sedikit meyakin alien tersebut bahawa manusia akan berubah dan temadun akan berakhir sebelum sesuatu yang buruk sempat berlaku pada dunia. Dan yang paling meyakinkan alien tersebut bahawa manusia boleh berubah bila dia melihat wanita yang terlalu menyayangi anak angkatnya menangis dan berjanji ...

"we can change.. we can change, give us one chance"

Maka alien itu pun insaf dan tidak jadi memusnahkan dunia.

p/s: Cerita tamil lagi elok logiknya dari filem ini, walaupun filem ini tidak ada orang melompat ke belakang naik gunung sambil membaling spek hitam dahulu dan sampai di atas gunung tepat pada masa spek hitam itu jatuh terpasang siap di mukanya.

No I am not getting married. Emm, not just yet. I mean jodoh dan ajal di tangan tuhan. So when the time comes, I will announce about it. But not to sure when is the time. I was so shocked when I got a call from jude shrieking “how could you not tell me you getting married” and whatnot, and I was like WTF, where on earth did you get this idea from?

And it was from my last posting, and close friends who knows me, knows I would not write something like that if it aren’t big. Well it is big, but be rest assure, it is not about me getting married. Although, it is important, I have other things to do first.

Speaking about marriage, I was in two weddings just now. One of a friend of mine who married a Bomba diver and another one a daughter of a lecturer in the place I work. It wasn’t my friend though, its Erin and Richard’s friend, I just go there for the food.

I just love wedding, it reminds me of how pathetic my life is. Apart of that, I love to eat wedding food (which basically are lousy), because it is just different with the ambiance, and people eating in one table sharing food and stories, although they don’t know each other. It’s just a place, where everyone goes to see happy people and be happy. Well maybe except, if the bride or the groom was in love with someone else, and married someone else instead. That would be problem and at least one people will not be happy for sure. But parents too can be unhappy later when they see the bills and compared the profit they get from salam keruk keruk.

And Malays, being Malays, like to compete with others in so many ways, including a wedding ceremony. But one thing they don’t realize, all wedding look the same. The food, the dais, the flower arrangement, the door gift (usually giving in single, not in pair or in a set of item, so most door gift will end up in the dumpster and being unimportant and add unrecyclable garbage to the world.

And another thing I see is malays like to double standard their guests. There are actually door gift for the VIPs with at least a fererro rocher in the box, while the rest will only receive sweets 3 for 20 cent gift wrap in a box with fancy ribbons.

That is so lame.

We should not do that.

But, I still love wedding.

The first wedding I went just now was my friends Fara who wed a Diver for Bomba, and they have all these firemen wearing bomba formal attire complete with sword and everything and they paraded in the hall with the bride and bridegroom and everything looked so romantic.

The other one was having a traditional kampong style wedding with food neatly tucked in a serving tray (dulang) and was covered with tudung saji and water was being served in a labu sayung. So each table was set to look like that, and it gives that exclusivity look to it.

I love wedding, wedding is nice.

Cerita ini di email oleh seorang kenalan jauh si Labuan. Sedih betul membacanya, di harap kita semua boleh mendapat ikhtibar dari cerita ini.

Bacalah...

Barangkali kisah ini boleh menjadi renungan bagi kita,terutamanya yang ingin berumah tangga :

Alkisah, seorang pemuda miskin bernama Jamil, berasal dari Kampong Pengan, Bota, Perak. Keluarganya hanyalah keluarga sederhana. Tidaklah disebut miskin. Ayahnya sehari-hari bekerja sebagai tukang jahit di kampungnya.

Karena kegigihannya, Jamil berjaya melanjutkan pelajaran hingga ke UTP walaupun dengan perbelanjaan seadanya.

Semasa dipenghujung tahun kedua di kampus, Jamil jatuh hati pada seorang gadis bernama Raja Ayu Sofea, juga sama-sama kuliah di fakulti yang sama. Ayu adalah putri seorang tokoh korporat ternama di daerah dan juga masih keturunan diraja. Walaupun secara ekonomi, mereka jauh berbeza, namun itu tidak menghalang keduanya untuk saling mencintai. Jamil juga tidak calang-calang ketampanannya, memang ramai menggilainya, tetapi Ayu jadi idamannya.

Ayah Ayu yang mengetahui putrinya begitu mencintai pemuda kampung dari keturunan biasa, tak mampu mencegah gelora cinta putrinya. Maka, setelah keduanya lulus, pernikahan keduanya pun diselenggarakan dengan meriah. Pesta besar-besaran diadakan untuk mengiringi pernikahan. Ayah Jamil yang tak punya banyak harta, hanya dapat memberikan bantuan sumbangan pakaian, langsir, sarung bantal, yang semuanya dibuat dan dijahit sendiri khas untuk pernikahan anaknya.

Bahagiakah Ayu bersanding dengan Jamil ? Bahagiakah Perkahwinan Mereka Hanya Kerana Cinta???

Ternyata kebahagiaan mereka tidak berlangsung lama.

Tibalah saatnya malam pengantin tiba. Mereka berduapun memasuki peraduan dengan bahagia. Namun,ketika Jamil membuka pakaiannya dan tinggal hanya memakai seluar dalam, berteriaklah Ayu dengan kuat, sebelum akhirnya pengsan tak sedarkan diri. Jamil masih dalam kebingungan dan tidak tahu kenapa isterinya histeria dan pengsan. Dilihatnya seluar dalam yang dipakai.

Aduh !!! Jamil lupa yang seluar dalam itu dijahit oleh ayahnya, dibuat dari kain bekas bungkus tepung gandum. Di tengah seluar dalam itu masih terpampang jelas tulisan,

"BERAT BERSIH 25 KG".

Sudah tentu Ayu terus pengsan melihatnya. Ayu tidak dapat membayangkan seberapa besar isinya dengan berat sebegitu.

Gitu le kan.

I don't know what is wrong with me. When i see something that give hope, no matter how false it is, my hand will be very itchy and i must get it.

Yesterday, while i was walking in Jaya Jusco Klang, with the intention of just window shopping and listing things to get next month (next month half bonus, yeahhh) i came across this swirling water tank. This water tank, with few drops of some aromatic oil supposedly clear the air, by sucking the bad air and ions, and with it swirling mechanism will emit clear clean air that will cleanse the body and soul and leaving a more hygienic air to breathe in the room.

And, also the plant base Air purifying concentrate, they call it, are environmentally safe and non toxic and it can kill germs, including the Bird Flu virus (HN51) (they write it in big bold red ink somemore)

The next thing I know, the water tank and the expensive Anti-Tobacco (what else) aromatic oil is now in my office.

Well, it kills germ, I must have it.

It said to eliminates tobacco odour, sterilizing, anti bacterial & anti-fungus, and most importantly it eliminated 99.9999 percent bacteria, viruses and fungi. That is almost as good as 100 percent.

And apart of the H5N1 virus it also said to eliminates, disinfection and control of (to name a few):

Proprionibacterium acne,
salmonella cholerasius,
stapphlococus aureus,
rhinovirus,
influenza A,
Hong Kong straind,

(basically i have no idea what these viruses mean, but it sounded scary. Well maybe for e.coli, salmonella and polio, because i remember reading it somewhere, in school maybe)

Not only that, it also disinfect the athlete’s foot fungus, infectious diseases, avian influenza virus the HN51.

But what more surprising it also disinfect the Herpes simplex type 1 and HIV type 1.

Hey, it disinfect HIV, what more can you ask for !!!!!!!!!!

i am not very sure if it does work or not, but i am having serious headache in the office, its either i am alergic to the aromatic oil, or it does have effect to the sinus because the headache seems to centre around the temple and nasal area. Maybe it is killing the sinus bacteria, and he bacteria is fighting back the clean air (either that, or i am alergic to fresh air)

Yeah, i am a sucker for over commercialization and drop dead marketing.

But, let say, just in case, i somehow later died of the Bird Flu Virus, i am giving permission to anyone reading my blog to sue the company silly. Make sure you sue them hell, and take every penny from them, and leave them nothing.

Soap and Convocation???

I really cannot go shopping. I am curse to not shop. I mean, I love shopping, its kind of a therapy for the lonely soul like me, but like all professional therapies it leave a big hole on your pocket. Usually I go shopping for clothes and item that I really need, whereas for most household items, I just leave it to my mom. She is better at budgeting and knows what to get for the house. I just make available the money for her to shop.

Yesterday, I was so bored, and I decided to go to tesco and buy something for the house. I asked mother what to buy, and he told me to buy some detergent and fabric softener. Well I did buy detergent and fabric softener, including some other items that create bubbles if mix with water and the bill finally amounted to RM154.

Hik hik

That is a lot of sabun I tell you. From shampoo, conditioner, 3 types of facial wash and a moisturizer , a half dozen of toothpaste, 3 types of detergent, 2 types of fabric softener (I need to get the “hanya setengah penutup sahaja mencukupi” too as well), body shampoo, body milk, body soap, hand soap, car shampoo, floor detergent and the list goes on and on.

And also 3 types of odour eliminator 2 for the office (they have new smell, morning rain, I must have that) and one for the car. I smoke so I need a lot of them.

Luckily mom did not ask me to buy things for the kitchen. I don’t know what I would buy.

Enough about detergent shopping. Lets look at some of the pictures of my student’s convocation. I love convocation, although usually we have to wait for almost 4 hours in the convocation hall. Especially if you are a student, in the period of 4 hours, your precious moment and fame only lasted for 30 second, after they called out your name and before they mention others.

But I love convocation, having gone to 3 convocations of my own, 1 for my undergrad and two postgrad convocations and numerous other convocations for the students. Looking at the faces of the joyful students and proud parents are just priceless. Especially if you are a lecturer and need to walk the red carpet for the academic’s procession and how everyone look at you with highest regard and respect as if you are some very important person in the higher institution (reallyyyy???) , and imagining how important your contribution in shaping the society and creating the future leader of the world (yeah, right) , it left you with a high spirited feeling and proud.

Or otherwise call, berangan tak sudah.

I like the feeling. So I rarely miss the opportunity to go to convocation. Just like a painter looking at his art, or a chef eating his own creation, this boys and girls are part of my work, well most of them yes, part of it, of course the the help of a other lecturers and admin staff too, but they are a part of my work.

And they serve nice kueh too.

This is the picture of the whole hall. Infront of me are the academician, i sit at the back so i can sleep. In front of them are the student, and the back of the students are the proud parents. On the top left are the choir. We are all standing up to sing Negara ku, the university's song and also to respect the prosession of the vice chancelor.

Its a small hall, barely fit all the students graduating, so just the lucky ones get to sit inside the hall or you have VIP fathers. They rest have to stay outside and watch from a big screen outside the hall.

Hello, miss me?

I am now free as a bird. I feel so liberated now that the exam has ended. I have marked the papers, keyed in and validated the marks. Now I am waiting for the validation meeting to check and compare marks with the rest of the lecturers for different subjects. Mostly validation meetings are held to formally confirming the marks as a faculty's decision before it is brought to the discussion of the university’s board of director or otherwise called the senate meeting.

But it wasn’t an easy task. In one of the code, the paper was supposed to be marked by 3 lecturers. One of them flew to Australia to pursue her PhD right before the exam. The other markers is one of the very-very senior officer, i.e the vice dean who is always busy and on the run. Since the july-november semester is rather short, we were only given a very short time before the deadline to finish all the markings.

Before i continue, i want to introduce my nephew.

This is azmir, we call him amir. He likes talcum powder very much. He use it everywhere, on his face, the body, hands, leg, under the table, on the carpet, at the sofa. That is his picture before my mom (his grandma) found out and wallop him.

this is one of the exam hall. Unlike other universities where they have exam building, we don’t. Each faculty have to be creative and try to find own ways to do the exam. Sometimes we wonder what is the function of the exam department, when the faculty has to do everything on its own.

This is actually a moot court where we rearrange the room and put table in it. Other than that, the exams are held all over the place. Smaller groups are very lucky because they get to do it in an airconditioned room, such as this one. A larger group, such as my students had to do it in the lounge or the dewan makan in the student dormitory, were it is hot and stuffy and you will feel hungry the entire course of exam because you can smell chicken being fried in the kitchen.

That is why this university is said to produce very strong graduate because they are always being tested, and they are being tested while they are being tested.

This is the last paper from the bunch of papers that I need to mark. It took me almost 11 days to mark all the papers. When you reach the last one you will feel so bliss you almost cry. And I did cry, because mind you I feel very tired marking the papers this semester since I am taking over the bunch from the other lecturer that managed to get away. Lucky bitch.

And when you finally finished the last paper you feel a rush of joy, and stars and sun suddenly appears out of nowhere and you feel like dancing and singing, and if its rain, you would just run out the field and sing a song from the sound of music.

You feel like rainbow suddenly come out of nowhere celebrating the gush of blood through your head and feel high. Somewhat like what drug addict gets when they take heroin I think. I swear on the way back home, I saw rainbow. I even took picture of it.

But, suddenly....

Not all movies, end up with happy ending. And you realised then, there isnt a pile of gold at the end of the rainbow, but a pile of dung.

These are few (i wouldn't say a few) papers that i need to mark again, because one of the very-very senior person could not finish it.

While attending a train the trainer (tot) training (yes, i need to go to a 3 days training while marking my papers), i got an sms.

"can you continue marking on one of the question because i could not make it, i have another paper to mark"

I just said oke, because i thought how hard could it be. Only one isnt it.

But when i took the bundle from the exam strong room, it was actually one the most famous and easiest question of all. Meaning to say, everyone answered that question, meaning to say, i need to remarks the whole bundle of answer scripts.

Well again, i am not complaining, just sharing stories. It is better to be stressed because you have a job, rather than being stressed unemployed, and since this particular person have enough authority and can elevate my stress level to another stage, i just keep quiet and do my job.

Kacang putih lah...

So with a lots of packets of kacang putih, i continued marking and marking and marking, counting the overall marks, keyed in the marks, validated the marks, and now i am as free as a bird until early January when the new semester starts.

Well, it may sound stressful but a lecturer's work is actually is not stressful at all. We are only busy at the early and at the end week of each semester. while the rest of the 4 months period we are basically talking and making sure the students get hell and sore ass and being a pain in the neck to the student and get paid for it. But of course there is also research that you need to do and some reading just to make sure that you know a little bit more from the students.

If you are lazy, but you have the credentials, and wanted something easy, be a lecturer. Trust me, i am one of them.

anyway, the day i finished all the works, i called Za and Raz and we went to celebrate. We had steamboat for dinner last night.

This is the cheapest steamboat restaurant you will ever find. Only RM19.90 per person, this Flaming Restaurant in Sunway Pyramid served the best affordable steamboat in town. Do not expect lobsters and soft shell crab, but they have almost everything.

And they a lots of dessert too, like ice cream, those marshmellow dipped in chocolate sauce, ice kacang and bottomless drinks.

I just love buffet. Although you know, buffet keep you closer to the heart doctors, but because it is cheap and since you can eat like a cow, you dont really mind about heart attack. Really...

Anyway, it is a steamboat dinner, it is supposed to be healthy.

These are some of the pictures of the porridge i cook last week while having flu. Since mom was not around that time and since a friend of mine was also sick, so i cook some porridge and fried some anchovies, shallots and grounded some black peppers.

Nice.

Just put 1 cup of rice, and 6 cups of water. Bring it to boil, put some coconut milk, and throws in some slice ginger and simmer it until the rice all lembik already. Put in some salt to taste. Eat with fried anchovies and what ever lah you have in the fridge.

Of course, i went down to buy Nasik Goreng Kampung a couple of hours later.

I am sick, not on a diet.

This is a picture of a half day round table discussion with the Ministry of Youth and Sports which i attended while busy invigilating exams and marking papers to discuss the political issues among youth. That is the life of a public servant, you have to make time when duty call. The discussion focuses a lot on the voting trend in the last election, where one of the reason said for the very interesting election result was because of the youth voting.

They are easily manipulated, they like shiny things, and they like drama and excitement, but they don't really care about politics.

But, then again it is a good thing because it shows our political thinking are getting more mature each day, and the political partisans are getting bigger, which is good for democracy, as long as they know what they are doing and where they are heading.

I was not intrigue so much on the discussion, but rather was looking forward for what will be served for lunch.

I know what day is today, but somehow someone has forgotten it. I think.

You see, every Thursday, we, the ever grateful, indebted and oblige, serving the king, nation and the general administration whole heartedly with courtesy, civility and sincerity; the polite government servants have to wear batik shirt.

So we all wear batik, but not everyone does because sometimes we just wear plain shirt on Thursday.

But not this man, he is just a day ahead of everyone.

Or maybe he just being proud of the national costume.

Anyway, i am supposed to be busy, and am supposed to be free from blogging until 24th of November. But 4 hours straight looking at the yellow script per session, 3 sessions per day somehow always motivates you to do something else. The more i mark, the more it seems that i have not, and you get a lil' bit frustrated.

When will this misery end?

Anyhow, blogging gives me such relief. It releases me from the ghastly reality that I am actually behind schedule.

I want to share some pictures of food my friend and I ate in Pak Li.

Pak Li is a Chinese kopitiam oke, it is not Pak Ali or something like that. Most probably the owner’s name is Chong Pak Li, or Pak Li kiu, or Pak Li li, but not Pak Ali. And it is situated in section 7, Shah Alam. Its one of the most hype meeting place and they serve good coffee and fairly nice food.

The speciality is roti bakar, and I love the mee kari and always have that in Pak Li. But I tried something else yesterday since I have slight fever and mee kari is a bit strong. I ate kueh tuew in a clear chicken broth soup. Not bad actually and it’s good for the flu.

Its Finally Over. NOT

The exam is finally over, with the last paper came in yesterday. Guess what? The last paper was mine. I am a bit disappointed and dissatisfied with the way the exam was arranged this semester. I teach 3 code this semester, namely the Quality Management, Knowledge Management and Human Resource Management (yeah funny right, when my field is actually economics and administration, but no complaint about that).

Being the core code, which mean every tom, dick and harry in the faculty had to take this paper to graduate, the number of undergrads taking this subject is rather extensive. In fact, I have the most number of students in the faculty, which I am not complaining either, because it is better to be stressed when you have a job, rather than being stressed because you are jobless.

What put me in dismay is all the three subjects were scheduled on the last week of exam i.e. the last five days of exam. They started the exam from 29th of October right till the 18th of November. It’s very disappointing to see lecturers (senior mostly) that teach elective code examination with very minimum number of students was scheduled early so that they have time to mark their papers, just because they are seniors.

I am not saying anyone fiddled with the scheduling but the trends and patterns are there, and it is enough for me to conclude that there is a predisposition in the examination schedule.

Having only five days maximum to mark 3 codes and almost, let me see, 137, 74, 80, 22 (many), 1 lecture and 5 tutorial classes, key in the mark, and do all the reporting is somehow very tiring. And this does not include the pain and headache I had to endure reading their group and individual assignments prior to the exam.

Anyhow, since nobody cares what happen to me even if I shout until blood coming out of my eyes, I should just shut the fuck up and do my work.

Speaking about examination, and examination invigilation (oh no!, not another one of those invigilation stories), yes, another one of those invigilation stories, i would like to sum up types of students we will see in the examination hall.

Basically we would only see two types of students, the normal and the abnormal. The normal ones are those who know what to do, and the abnormal ones are those who had no idea why they are in the exam room, and you would be surprised how most cheating cases and attempted cheating was done by the brighter one. Maybe because of the pressure of the examination and the need to prove they are good got the hold of their consciences.

So this is the list of types of students (the abnormal one) I usually see in the examination room, and it can be rather enjoyable watching them although you are in reality bored like hell.

Couldn’t be bothered.
These are the normal ones. When they got their question papers, they will wait for the instruction and when the time start they will quickly scribble something on the question papers, most probably their mind map, and start writing the whole 3 hours are could not be bothered with the surrounding. They are very focus, and fast, and they write non stop. Even if a bomb was release in front of them, they would try to finish their exam first.

Thinker.
Thinkers are those students who look very decent and they like to pose, poise thinks every time the finish a sentence. They look like they are enmesh in some puzzle and trying to find the best solution for the problem. They will look at the floor, ceiling, table and bite of their pen and pencil and but still look blank.

Energizer Bunny.
These type of students cannot sit still. They have to move some part of their anatomy (hopefully and mostly their legs) and kept on flipping their exam questions and answer booklet and what ever as long as they look busy. They are the loud one. Their action actually create sound in the exam hall, from squeaking chairs and table

Drama Queen
This is very theatrical in nature. They are like thinkers; accept we can see their body movement. At one time they are slow, and out of a sudden their eyes pop and they change into an energizer bunny, and then stop and think, and their hands are moving up and down like a maestro in an orchestra.

Time conscious
Time conscious student keep on looking at the clock in the exam hall and then look at the watch on the wrist, and then look back to the clock in the exam hall just to check if the time are well aligned. And at time we can see they are trying to take a peek to the student besides them, not to copy the answer, but to look at their watch.

Sight Seeing.
These types of student are the one who will eventually fail. Hik. They don’t know why they are in the room, and on the course of the 3 hour exam, their body may be in the room, but their soul is somewhere else. Just like thinker, they will look around, and then keep looking around, smiling like crazy apes.

Emily Rose
These are the types that talk to themselves while doing their exam. If we look very carefully we can see they are doing their “OH!, and AH! And then have a private session monolog while writing something on the paper.

Sleeper
We have two types of sleeper, one who sleep in the exam hall, maybe they finish early, or they just do not know what to do, and another one, who sleep at home, thinking some malaikat would wake them up and take them flying to the examination hall. I had a few of these cases before. If they can make it in time before the first hour fled, then I will let them in (although the instruction said 30 minutes), but I cannot comprehend those who were very late. Because exam is very important to them, and the only date they need to remember in their entire university life is their examination timetable.

p/s: To all my lovely students i wish you good luck, and hopefully my mood is very stable this week while marking your papers. Oh god, how i wish i am in an island now, drinking coconut water with funny straws and mini umbrella on it.

Don't you just love google, at least my students does. Everytime they sent in their research there will somehow have a link to google search engine. Another favorite reference is the wikipedia. It seems like google search engine and the wikipedia are a big library, and you can find what ever information about anything in the world here.

Nowadays, there is no need for University anymore, because most universities student's assignment information and facts are taken from these two sources. So create your own research questions and research objectives, and googled your information and compiled all the information from the wikipedia. Construct, conceptualise and create your own understanding, or better still create your own theory or even better create your own law , and tadaaaaaa you have your own thesis.

Of course, non of my students dare to send in their work having these two sources, because i reminded them over and over again, that i am going to fail their assignment. Not being that strict though, but if possible i want them to explore more important, legitimate, acknowledged and structured works and researches from books, and journal, sometime i accept the work if the information are suitable and logic and comes from a legitimate websites.

Because knowledge exist in many ways.

Budu didapati berpotensi untuk melawan radikal bebas dan dipercayai mampu menghalang proses penuaan dan mencegah terjadinya penyakit degeneratif sep erti aterosklerosis, koroner jantung, penyakit kencing manis, kanser dan selainnya pada peringkat lebih awal. Kajian mendalam juga mendapati budu turut mengandungi zat antibakteria penyebab [[diarrhoea cirit (diarrhoea)] , penurunan kolestrol darah, pencegah penyakit jantung dan hipertensi. Budu memiliki zat gizi yang lebih mudah dicerna, diserap dan dimanfaatkan oleh tubuh berbanding jenis protein yang lain.

Khasiat budu yang diproses dari ikan bilis yang diperam terbukti mampu mengatasi masalah kanak-kanak yang menderita penyakit diarrhoea kronik akibat kurang zat pada tubuh. Dengan pengambilan budu sebagai makanan sampingan, ia mampu menggalakkan pertumbuhan berat badan bagi golongan yang menderita penyakit diarrhoea kronik ini serta menyembuhkannya dalam waktu singkat. Ia juga dapat mempertingkatkan IQ kepada sesiapa yang memakannya. kerana ia merangsangkan sel-sel otak dan akan memperkukuhkan ikatan di antara neuron-neuron serta menguatkan neuron-neuron yang lemah..

Pemakanan budu turut bertindak membantutkan pertumbuhan bakteria raffinosa dan stokiosa, penyebab utama gejala flatulensi dan masalah kembung perut bagi kanak-kanak dan orang dewasa. 2 kelompok vitamin yang terdapat pada budu iaitu, vitamin larut air (vitamin B kompleks) dan vitamin larut lemak (vitamin A, D, E dan K).

Budu merupakan sumber vitamin B yang paling banyak menyumbang kepada pecahan lain sep erti vitamin B1 (thiamin), vitamin B2 (riboflavin) , asid pantotenat, asid niasin, vitamin B6 dan vitamin B12 (sianokobalamin) . Secara saintifik, budu merupakan penyumbang utama vitamin B12 yang dihasilkan oleh bakteria klebsiella pneumoniae dan Citrobacter frundiin - yang mana vitamin B12 ini tidak dimiliki dari mana-mana sumber makanan laut, ikan-ikan dan daging-daging lain. vitamin B12 ini perlu untuk pembentukan sel darah merah, di mana kekurangan vitaman ini mengakibatkan terjadinya penyakit anemia perisiosa (pucat), sakit perut dan berat badan menurun.

Kadar vitamin B12 dalam budu adalah di antara 1.5 sehingga 6.3 mikrogram per 100 gram bagi setiap satu hidangan atau 2 sudu besar. Jumlah ini jauh lebih cukup untuk keperluan badan manusia dalam sehari. Dengan adanya vitamin B12 para pengamal diet (jaga badan) tidak perlu lagi merasa khuatir akan kekurangan vitamin B12 di dalam badan. Selain pembekal kepada protein yang tinggi, ia turut mengandungi mineral makro dan mikro dalam jumlah yang cukup. Jumlah mineral zat besi, kalsium dan magnesium adalah sebanyak 9, 39, 2, 87 dan 8.05 mg bagi setiap 100 gram budu.

Budu juga mengandungi zat antioksidan dalam bentuk isoflavon. Seperti halnya vitamin C, vitamin E dan karotenoid, isoflavon juga merupakan antioksidan yang sangat diperlukan oleh tubuh untuk menghentikan reaksi pembentukan radikal bebas. Radikal bebas merupakan atom atau molekul yang mempunyai satu atau lebih elektron yang tidak berpasangan, sehingga menjadi sangat aktif hingga menyebabkan ketumbuhan tumor, kanser, penuaan dan kematian sel.

Radikal bebas didapati berpunca dari makan seharian yang dimakan dan juga dari reaksi yang terjadi di dalam tubuh. Adanya antioksidan di dalam budu akan mencegah pembentukan radikal bebas tersebut. Kebiasaannya di dalam apa jua jenis ikan terdapat 3 jenis isoflavon unsur antioksidan iaitu daidzein, glisitein dan genistien. Pada budu, di samping 2 jenis unsur ini, terdapat juga antioksidan faktor 11 (6, 7, 4 trihidroksi isoflavon) yang mempunyai sifat antioksidan paling kuat dibandingkan isoflavon dalam ikan-ikan lain.

Penelitian yang dilakukan di Universiti North Carolina, Amerika Syarikat menemukan bahawa unsur genestein dan phytoestrogen yang terdapat pada budu terbukti dapat mencegah penyakit kanser, proses penuaan dan barah payu dara. Penyakit jantung koroner (PJK) merupakan salah satu bentuk kelainan pembuluh darah koroner akibat penumpuan lemak di dalam dinding pembuluh darah iaitu satu keadaan yang disebut aterosklerosis. Ini mungkin disebabkan oleh faktor usia, pemakanan, jantina dan keturunan. Manakala faktor dimodifikasi adalah peningkatan kadar lipida darah (hiperkolestrolemia ), hipertensi, obesiti, stress dan kurang aktiviti lasak.

Pemakanan budu yang mempunyai sifat hipokolesterolemik (menurunkan lemak darah) sep erti kandungan protein, serta makanan, niasin, vitamin E, karotenoid dan kalsium. Satu ujikaji rambang yang dijalankan, mendapati pengambilan budu sebanyak 150 gm sehari selama 2 minggu dapat menurunkan kadar kolestrol ke tahap luar dari jangkaan. Selain dari sumber protein yang berkualiti tinggi, budu turut dikenali sebagai sumber serat (dietary fiber) yang baik.

Kandungan serat di dalam budu mampu mencapai di antara 8 hingga 10% bagi setiap 100 gm. Ia menyumbangkan kepada 30% dari umlah serat yang dianjurkan oleh National Cancer Research.. Berbanding serat di dalam ikan-ikan atau sumber protein lain, serat pada budu lebih mudah untuk dicernakan. Dari apa yang dinyatakan ini jelas sekali bahawa khasiat serta kebaikan sep iring budu yang dimakan bersama hidangan nasi pagi, tengahari dan malam melampau jangkauan yang anda fikirkan.

Budu seumpama cecair pelbagai vitamin yang memenuhi segala keperluan untuk tubuh badan.

Santau jentik

Santau adalah satu teknik sihir orang-orang nusantara yang cukup menakutkan. Baik di indonesia, di malaysia, thailand dan sebagainya cukup popular dengan sihir santau ni. Santau adalah musibah yang dihantar secara batin melalui makanan, angin, air dan sebagainya.

Banyak kali kita terbaca pasal santau ni, personally aku tak pernah tengok lagi orang yang kena santau. Tapi dari cerita-cerita yang pernah dengar, kesan santau ni amat menakutkan. Contohnya orang yang kena santau yang dihantar melalui makanan akan mengalami muntah-muntah darah, dan bila mereka muntah keluar barang-barang yang pelik seperti jarum, kaca dan sebagainya. Kalau santau dari angin pulak, dikatakan orang yang terkena akan menjadi busung, gila dan sebagainya.

Sebab itu bila kita makan-makan di restoren misalnya, kita kena sentiasa berwaspada, jangan sekali-sekala menyakitkan hati peniaga, dan kita kena baca Bismillah sebelum makan untuk mendapat perlindungan dari-Nya.

Sebab kita ni manusia biasa, dan musibah datang dalam berbagai cara.

Bercerita pasal santau ini, ada satu kejadian yang menyebabkan aku jadi begitu takut dan fobia untuk satu tempoh yang lama. Kejadian ini berlaku tidak lama dulu. Masa tu aku duduk seorang di rumah. Emak duduk di rumah kakak di klang untuk sementara waktu.

Nak dijadikan cerita, masa aku balik dari kerja aku nampak satu bungkusan kecil kain putih yang di ikat dengan getah diselitkan di mangga pintu rumah.

Ketika itu perasaan aku bercampur gaur. Risau, takut, kalut bertukar ganti. Kenapa ada orang nak letakkan bungkusan kecil kain putih ini di rumah. Tapi aku beranikan diri mengangkat bungkusan tersebut dan meletakkan baik-baik di tepi pasu bunga. Aku berdoa pada tuhan, jangan lah perkara buruk berlaku. Pada masa yang sama, aku menyedapkan diri dan mengatakan bungkusan kecil itu sebenarnya diletakkan oleh emak di sana untuk menjaga rumah.

Malam itu aku tidor tidak tenteram sekali. Risau kalau-kalau sebenarnya bungkusan itu diletakkan oleh seseorang untuk tujuan pukau. Semua lampu rumah aku buka. Sengaja aku on kan television supaya malam itu untuk nampak rumah seperti sibuk.

Malam itu cuaca agak panas luar biasa dari hari-hari yang biasa. Mulut aku tidak berhenti-henti membaca segala doa dan ayat quran yang aku tau.

Alhamdullilah, sehingga pagi semuanya baik-baik belaka.

Beberapa minggu kemudian, masa dok lepak rumah kawan, badan rasa sedikit penat dan aku tertido di rumahnya. Malam tu kita orang dok borak terlalu lama sampai kesiangan. Jadi bila dah tido lewat bangun pun lewat lah. Bila bangun-bangun tengok jam dan pukul 12 tengahari.

Jadi dalam dok kalut nak keluar rumah tu tiba-tiba aku ternampak bungkusan putih yang sama ada di depan rumahnya.

Jika aku masa tu dah tidak tenteram sama sekali. Kenapa ada bungkusan ni di depan rumah kawan aku lak. Dan kenapa ada dua pulak.

"Zubir... bir, tengok ni" teriak aku pada zubir dari pintu rumahnya.

"ada apa? apa yang dok kalut tu" kata zubir.

Pastu aku pun tunjuklah kat bungkusan kecil berwarna putih di depan rumahnya. Ada dua. Zubir mengangkatnya dengan berhati-hati.

"Apa benda ni?" tanya zubir.

"Ntah lah, hari tu ada satu kat rumah macam ni jugak." Jawab aku pada zubir.

Zubir tiba-tiba membuka bungkusan tersebut, walaupun aku cuba melarangnya. Bila terburai di dalamnya ada seakan-akan pasir.

"Pasir apa ni?. Kenapa orang letak bungkusan ni di depan rumah" tanya zubir.

"Ntahnya, pasir kubur kot. Ada orang cuba nak kena kan kita kot ni bir" Aku begitu risau sekali masa tu.

Orang ni dah main kasar. Hari tu dirumah aku, dia bubuh sebuah, ini di rumah Zubir diletakkan dua bungkusan sekali.

Apalah salah aku sampai orang sunggup buat begini. Masa tu aku dah yakin, bungkusan itu bukan ditujukan ke rumah, sebaliknya untuk aku. Tapi masakan ada orang yang tahu mana aku pergi dan duduk di mana malam tu. Dan kenapa dia sanggup buat perkara seperti itu.

Apalah salah aku sampai sanggup orang buat camtu. Kalau lah aku jahat sekali dan mengacau orang pun, takkan lah sampai nak main sihir-sihir macam ni. Dan kenapa dengan kawan aku sekali nak dikacaunya.

"Takpe, nanti aku tanya sapa-sapa yang mahir pasal ni. Ko jangan risau" kata zubir pada aku. Dia nampak kerisauan di mata ku.

Aku cuba yakin dengan kata-kata zubir, tapi hati aku begitu risau, sebab dari pembacaan dan cerita yang aku dengar perbuatan sihir ini amat menakutkan kesannya. Lagi-lagi pada orang macam aku yang tidak pandai melawan dan ilmu agama pun cetak. Yang aku mampu lakukan meminta pertolongan dari tuhan supaya dijauhkan dari segala malapetaka.

Esoknya, aku berjumpa dengan Zubir semula. Aku tanyakan pada dia samada dia dah tahu apa kah bungkusan tu. Bungkusan itu sama seperti yang di atas tu. Infact itu lah bungkusannya, macam rempah sup bunjut yang diikat tali.

Pastu zubir dengan muka mencebik dia punya cakap....

"ITU ADALAH UBAT JENTIK-JENTIK LAH GILA. KO SUKA KAN KALUT-KALUT.

DENGAN AKU-AKU SEKALI DOK KALUT"

Ohhhhhhhh, ubat jentik-jentik rupanya.

Kekekeke, sial sangat.

Aku beriya-iya le ingatkan orang nak menyantau ke apa. Rupanya bungkusan itu adalah ubat jentik-jentik yang dibagi pada semua rumah di shah alam ini.

Sapa le punya gila dok bungkus dalam kain camtu, pastu dicampak depan pintu rumah, pastu dengan takde instructionnya, dengan tak tau camana nak mengunakannya dengan takde notis dan sebagainya. Aku mana le tau.

Dah le rupanya macam rempah sup bunjut tu, nasib baik le aku fikir menda tu bahan sihir, kalau orang lain yang tak tahu, ntah-ntah dia ingat itu sup bunjut adabi tu tak ke mampus masuk hospital kalau dah mentedarah menda alah tu.

So moral of the story, jangan dok kalut-kalut. kalau tak tau apa-apa kita jangan kelam kabut dulu, kita tanya le orang dulu na.

p/s: bungkusan atas tu aku jumpa dalam kolah mandi rumah aku, mak aku bubuh dalam kolah tu. Ekekekeke, nasib baik aku tak tanya dia, pengsan orang tua tu gelakkan aku nanti.

Just a short one. Something i want to share so that i would not forget later.

When i invigilates an exam, other than walking and watching the students work their asses out to answer the question and find any possible ways to copy from their friends, i usually read the question papers, and try to answer some of the questions. Just to see, if there is any mistake, and at the same time to challenge my knowledge on a subject matters that have relation to my expertise.

Anyway, one of the paper i got to invigilate was a macroeconomics paper. I just love macroeconomics when i did my undergrad, because unlike unit based analysis of microeconomics, macro look at the overall pictures of an economic situation and it is very dynamic and confusing since we have so many schools of thought discussing on the same matters, with different explanation but getting the same answers and solution.

So as i was reading, i came across a question which i think is funny.

The question was,

Q. Which of the following is true about the effect of inflation?

And one of the possible answer was,

A. Inflation promotes social harmony by uniting people against the government.

Of course the answer is wrong, but it is true in a way. The lecturer setting the question must be voting for an opposition party or someone very witty.

When we think about it, many government was toppled when a citizen revolution or coup de tart happen when they are not satisfied with the economic condition, especially when the price of goods increases and there are no goods to consume in the market, i.e inflation.

We have so many creative lecturers and students here.

Speaking about creative students, once in my tutorial I asked the students how knowledge management can be used by the government to integrate and streamline their service delivery. So I asked them the relationship of the government and how many type of government we have.

Most students answered 3, but there this one particular student who answered 4!

So I asked him again, how come there are 4, where does the other one come from, and he answered,

“Yes, sir, there are 4, which is The Federal Government, the State Government, the Local Government and last but not least The New Government”

Of course he was just joking, but I just love creative students; they make the class livelier.

Another thing I realized is, every time i read the instructions to the students, and before I let them write anything, I would end the instruction with a statement “dengan lafaz Bismillah anda boleh bermula”

I have been doing that since ages, and when I work here, I started to do the same thing. After a few semesters, I realized that most invigilators now, when it is time for them to read the instruction they will end with the same sentence,

“dengan lafaz Bismillah, anda boleh bermula”

I am not saying, I started it, but then again I never heard it said before in the previous exam. So I guess, dan dengan perasannya, said, I did have an effect to some of the colleagues here.

Emmm.

I am so proud of myself.

Kuala Lumpur - Damai Laut Swiss Garden Resort and Spa Fun Quest.

On the first of November, a few friends and I were supposed to participate in a fun quest challenge cum treasure hunt competition by Katma, or catma or something like that. Basically it’s the Perodua Owner Association or something.

The race started from KL, Pandan Indah right to Damai Spa and Resort Lumut. The overall race took around 8 hours and 400 kilometers in distance to complete. We were given a tulips (a treasure hunt map, treasure hunters will know what tulip is), a list of activities to be done, RM57 for the activities among others.

Those who loves treasure hunting knows that treasure hunter competition or fun quest is the one of the best way to get almost free vacation, where everything else is prepared for you. For example, the fees for each contestant is RM90, and you’ll get shirts, caps and some other saguhati, comfortable hotel accommodations and 3 meals including breakfast lunch and dinner. But most treasure hunter enters a competition not really because of the cheap vacation, but for the thrill and exhilaration of the whole games and journey, but of course with one thing in mind, that is to win the competition.

So my highly competitive friends Kimi, and I, were ready to compete with his two other friends which I will call by their middle name Dumb and Dumber. Only that, dumb did not picked the phone until the night before the competition and said he is not going, and dumber sent an sms 6 hours before the competition that he had a family problem and could not make it.

Fuck!

So, I complacently agreed to go along with kimi. The only problem was, in one of the instruction, clearly stated that we need to go to Batu Caves and take pictures of “Gua”. And I reckoned that they will ask up to climb the Batu Caves. Both myself and Kimi are physically challenge although we are not OKU, because we will die of horrendous death due to lack of oxygen if we were to climb the stair. Because our stomach consume too much oxygen.

So around 2 am in the morning (just to stress the morning part) I went to a friends place and asked them to join us for the race which will be held around another 4 hours. None of them agreed to it, only until I used my ultimatum which is to beg and made up sad stories, how I would do anything for them even it will hurt me and how I will sacrificed anything for their well being.

It works.

Two of them, Naim and Zizi skinny ones agreed to join.

So we get back, had a little nap, and by 6.30 am we were all geared up for the competition. So our journey begins.

First task was to shop till you drop (literally) in Tesco Cheras. We had to buy few things from a list given. Being me, I had to do something funny so I decided to turn myself into a bowling ball and falls like an idiot face front and knocked a few flower vases. Luckily no one saw me falls, except I heard some loud giggling at the back, but I was so busy racing I did not turn to see who was laughing at me.

Fuck.

Second task, as I was expected, we went to Batu Caves and select of members to climb up the stairs and take pictures of himself.

Third task was to go to templer’s park. There we were given the traditional coconut grater and had to grate 100 grams of fresh coconut. That was kacang putih for me.

Then we shoot straight to Teluk intan for the next task, where each team had to eat 2 big bowls of ice kacang. I participated in this quest, because I thought I would be kacang putih too. But I was so wrong, I had a brain freeze and almost end up in a hospital.

Then from teluk intan, we went Swiss Garden Damai Laut Spa and Resort for a golf game (not the entire course, just on the green) and then after golf we went to the resort for the last game which was to put 3 pingpong balls blindfolded into a plastic container.

So each of us took turn to play the games, and it was fun. And I had a lot of great time.

So after the event, we rested for a while, went to the beach, attend the prize giving ceremony and then we went to lumut esplanade to eat Ice Kacang again. The very next day, some of us went to the Katma Annual general Meeting; while those did not attend the meeting plays some more beach activities and telematch.

My team, Kimi, Zizi, Naim and I, did not go to the AGM or join the telematch because we slept right until its time to check out.

I have an hour to blog, before I go into my utterly boring biannually routine, that is to invigilate an examination. Three hours of total silence, plus another hour to set up the room is rather unproductive especially to those who had to endure the pain and agony 5-6 times in a semester, twice yearly, not including the mid term exam.

Accumulated the time spend walking, watching and basically doing nothing is around 40 hours of peace and boredom a year. That is almost 2 days in total.

The best thing is, that is the only time for you to actually look at the faces of your students clearly and see how they look like. You can see the energy, hope and the optimism portrayed in their faces while they attempts to find solution for 4 questions only that will decide their future later, after spending almost half year listening to boring lectures, going for tutorial, reading a whole book and ancillary material, going to the library, doing assignment and tolerating wicked lecturers with very unstable mood.

It is also a time where we gaze with slight satisfaction to those indolent student we detest so much, and see how they strive and sweat so hard to answer the question, while in our mind we keep saying “that is why you should listen to me all these while”. While we sympathized and take oath to serve everyone equally, we are only human. To err is only human. It works both ways. Having said that, never have grudge to any of your disciples and always wish them all the success.

We are too exam oriented some might say, but exam is just obstacle you have to face to remind you of who you are, and what you ought to be doing.

And you ought to be doing it right.

And that is what we call learning.

Holy cow!, look at those ...

As a government servant, in every Thursday we are required to wear cloth using the national fabric; the batik. Particularly, we can only wear Malaysian Batik, not the Indonesian one, or Hawaiian Batik, or what ever batik available in the world.

So we either go for the Batik Canting, which can be very expensive sometimes or batik tekap, which is not that expensive but if you wanted to look like you are wearing your mother's kain batik kemban to work, it is really up to you. Feel free to do so.

It so happen yesterday, i was wearing batik and i had to invigilate an exam in a hall which can be mistakenly identified as a refrigerator. It was so bloody cold inside it, i went to the toilet 3-4 times. Well basically i went to the toilet to smoke. Nevertheless..

Anyway, i realised something later what cold weather can have effect to your body system. It gets everything erected. Somehow our body react to the cold temparatures and increases its own termometer. If you know what i mean.

Visit Malaysia Months.

October was a visit Malaysia Month for me. Early this year i went to Sarawak, and in October alone i went Kelantan, Perak, and Pulau Pinang.

I write about it later, but as a preview these are some of the pictures taken during the so called vacation.

On the way to penang, in a brand new Nautica, using the highway, with the help of a GPS navigator. As if the signboard were not enough.

Open house

Reaching the end of Syawal, my friend, Zubir and i, decided to have some sort of very small gathering cum open house to celebrate Hari Raya do. We wanted to have a small makan-makan session with very close knitted friends, thus we could not afford to invite so many people since the house is too small and considering the too short of a notice, we were afraid that some friends would be taken aback and thought that we invited them last minute, so we agreed to do it small with around 20 people or so.

Little did we know that our close, very near friends are actually a lot, and due to a slight misscommunication both Zubir and I invited 20 people each. And friends being friends, brought along their friends too.

So the small gathering somehow did not look small afterall. But i was so happy, because somehow the gathering becomes merrier and more interesting and everyone had fun. I was happy because all my closes friends came, and accepted the invitation. Well maybe accept 2-3 who took very lightly my invitation. (*sedih)

Our main concern was about the food. Whether it is enough or not, will everyone gets to eat or not. However it did not become too much of a problem since i have wrongly budgeted the menu and we have too much food to spare. And the best thing is due to the miss budgeting of the menu, it actually served everyone well, and nobody is complaining.

Infact, i got a praise. Erin said, i am such a good host. Just because i kept on pouring soda syrup in his glass.

Then again, when you go to a open house, you don't really want to eat, but prefer to be close to friends and gossip around.

With the help of a professional chef, Ijat, who happens to be actually the guest, who happens to be early, and who happens to be free, and who happens to be more willing to help, zubir and i did not do alot because, it so happen that he was the one doing everything i.e the cooking, the table setting, deejaying and minggling with the guest. Everyone must have Ijat at their party, i tell you. A life saver.

I was late, because i have meetings until 3 pm. I cannot go out shopping, and Zubir can only start going out shopping for stuff after 3 pm, since it is a friday. So you dont want to be caught buying chicken in Tesco while everyone else are busy Friday Praying, isnt it.

So we end up shopping around 4 pm, and guess what? The function was set at 8.30 pm. So we have exectly 4 hours to cook for 50 persons. Actually less than that, because we only finished shopping around 5pm.

But, i am not that worried because, we are all professional. Zubir and Ijat are professional cook, and i am a professional emmmm, food tester.

So i am important too.

And mind you, the menu was very extensive. Well, its hari raya, for once you must have lemang and nasik impit isnt it. And since the budget was very tight, you cannot afford to cater, and also since it is hari raya open house, you cannot possibly cook meehoon goreng and the ever popular speghetti bolognese.

Zubir and i are confident that WE, with a very tight budget and time, with miss calculating the invited guest, will be able to cook something very simple comprising of:

nasik minyak,
kurma daging,
ayam masak merah,
acar timun,
satay,
Nasik impit, and
lemang

Somehow, on the day itself, and 4 hours before the function, it does not look to simple after all. But we managed, of course with the help of Ijat as our chief cook and Faie as our driver, haha.

So here are some of the pictures of the Raya Open House.

I have premarinated and fried the chicken before hand. And the chicken and beef were bought in the morning, so it somehow help minimising cooking time. A word of advice, do not wait last minute to buy the ingredients of your food if you want to cooked for 50 people.

The lemang in the picture was so lousy and i really hate the taste. I bought it in Shah Alam. Its a orang malas lemang, where they precooked the glutinous rice and shoved it inside the bamboo. Its tasteless and as you can see, i can only use half of it, while the rest clinged to the bamboo and ended up looking like vomit.

Nak tulis dalam Bahasa Malaysia lah pula hari ini.

31 hb October, menandakan berakhirnya sebulan Syawal, or was it yesterday. Tapi kan, aku masih lagi dapat undangan rumah terbuka hari raya sabtu dan ahad. Mungkin mereka sedang merayakkan Deepavali.

Setiap kali Ramadhan dan Syawal, berat badan saya semakin meningkat maju dengan JPD berlaku dengan hebat sekali. JPD untuk sesiapa yang kurang arif, bermaksud Jalan Perut Dulu. Memang satu fenomena yang tidak mampu dielakkan. Tapi konsep JPD ini nampaknya semakin menjadi-jadi bila umur semakin lanjut ini. Kejadian ini sebenarnya amat merungsingkan sekali. Tapi takpe, kita ikut je apa yang orang selalu cakap, "Raya setahun sekali"

Jadi oke lah, cuba bayangkan kalau raya setahun 12 kali. Tak ke sekarang aku ni ada kat hospital besar Klang sedang buat bypass untuk kali ke 34 agaknya, tak pun dah arwah kot.

Nope, entri ini bukan entri untuk menceritakan azam menguruskan badan. Dah malas nak azam macam tu, sebab tidak pernah nak berhasilnya. Entri ini hanya untuk menceritakan betapa gumbiranya aku raya tahun ini sebab aku ada sebab utk bergembira tahun ini.

I have a lovely family, i have a steady job, i have label my friends into 3 group and see the real colour of my friends and i have a reason to be happy.

Jugak, aku happy sebab akhir Syawal ini juga aku dah siapkan 3 kerja sekaligus, dalam masa satu hari.

Dah siap mark 2 assessment for students research proposal, 2 assessment for students final report, isi borang Sasaran Kerja tahunan (SKT) dan set the rawscore untuk continuous assessment student untuk 8 kelas.

Yes!! 8 buah kelas, sepatutnya 5 je (1 lecture, dan 4 tutorial) tapi sebab sorang dari pensyarah yang mengajar subject yang sama sudah lari tidak dapat dikesan dan meninggalkan sisa-sisa kerjanya pada aku.

Takpe, nanti kalau turn aku fly nanti, aku buat menda yang sama pada dia. Siap!!!

Anyway, esok aku akan ke Lumut, dari Kuala lumpur untuk menyertai Perodua Treasure Hunt anjuran Perodua-Catma.

Selalu pergi treasure hunt pendek-pendek je, belum lagi pernah treasure hunt long distance ni.

Lecturer A : Cantik topi awak, dari mana tu?
Student : Dari uptown Shah Alam.

Lecturer A & B : Oh!!!

Lecturer A : Tapi macam topi orang Afghanistan tu. Mesti buatan sana.
Student : Oh ya ke, tak tau lah pulak. Kejab ya.

The student then took of his cap and turn in upside down and looked inside for label.

Student : Emm, made in China.

I paid my lunch and walked off smiling.

Everything now is made in China. But this one surely does not have melamine inside it.

Why we dry clothes outside the house

First of all, the achievements for these past few weeks.

I became an MC for the faculty Raya Open House, although they had meeting few week before, but only told me about it the day before the event. It was more of a bidan terjun thingy, when a senior lecturer who supposed to be the MC thought it was wiser to give the responsibility to a junior like me, a day before the event, so i would have more experience in public speaking (he may have forgotten that i maybe a junior here, but i have been teaching for like 9 years already)

Fcuk!

Well, I did it, and got a pat on the back and praises for a work done well by some of the member of the faculty.

Again in another occasion, being the junior in the department, I was asked to become the presenter of the finding, for a workshop held in the faculty, attended by the dean and faculty deans, because the seniors in my group thought it is only fair that I do it for training and learning process.

Fuck!

I was 2 hours late for the workshop seminar, and I don’t know head and tail of the seminars discussion, but I did it anyway, i presented like a true professional (i.e being a clown infront of everyone and make sick jokes) and guess what, now I am the advisor for the BACAS internalization team and I got 2 extra epjj slots next semester.

Out of the sudden, the dean came to me while we were having tea after the workshop and suggested that I lead the BACAS internalization team. Don’t ask me what internalization means, I don’t know just yet, but I dare not say NO, so I said yes. You never say no the dean, or you will be doom forever. I wasnt so sure the title actually. Was it internationalization or internalization, one of that for sure.

And also of the KPs for long distance learning, came to me and asked me if I could teach two slots for the epjj students next semester, and I agreed reluctantly and showing my sad face because I will have so many things to do next semester, but i will still do it for the sake of the faculty and the benefit of the students (but instead I was screaming and smiling like crazy inside, because I wanted it so much since the payment one epjj course (4 classes only per semester) is around RM3000 each.

EPJJ stands for e-pendidikan jarak jauh. We only met the students 4 times in one semesters, and all the teaching is done through the internet, read : paste your notes, slide, and reading material in the internet and they have to work their way themselves to pass the exam and you just goyang kaki waiting for someone to bank in the cheque. Its easy money i tell you.

Yuhuuuuuu Back to the question today, why do we hang and dry our clothes outside the house?

One reason is so that the clothes will be dried faster because of the sunrays and the moving air and wind.

Secondly so that your curtain railing does not tercabut from the wall.

Oh hell, die lah i this time.

It was raining the whole day, in fact it rain inconsistently this week i am scared to hang my clothes outside. So, instead i hang it inside the house. Since i don't know where to hang it, so i used the curtain railing instead.

What happen next??? And according to the Murphy’s law, the whole railing collapsed.

This time i am really fuck.

Mother is not around. She is at my sister's house this whole month. If she sees this, she will lost her mind and hell will break loose and i am surely going to get it. I have been calling a list of friends asking if they knew anyone who can fix the railing but to no avail.

Moral of the story is, some things are invented for a single purpose only, and i cannot be innovated to multitask, such as the curtain railing (especially when you try to hang 4 oversize jeans, some trousers, t-shirts and a few shirts)

Well, what to do, accident does happen.

Nasi Ulam.

Guess where i went again, last week? I was in the land of Cik Siti Wan Kembang, again for the umpteen times. I wonder why i like to go there so much. I don’t have an OCD problem, but when I like something so much, I will become very obsessive about it (having ocd and being obsessed with something does not really falls under the category isn't it).

Anyway wasting time and money some might say, but to me when you do something you like very much, you will put value to it, and the more you like it, the more value it has.

For example, 4 person might buy the same brand of clothing, let say a Levi’s jean, one is buying it because he loves levi’s so much, and have been wearing the brand from ages, and another person bought it because he think the jeans look cool and beautiful, the next person bought it because he is following a band wagon where everyone must have a levi’s jean, and the last person bought it because he need a branded jeans and he can only afford a Levi’s.

All four will have different views or perception of the usage of that jeans, and their perception will have an affect to how the value the goods. So whenever we have problem with our spending habit, we always blame it to the forces and the elements of economic ya.

In one of the activities (which includes a lot of sleeping, because of the bus ride take ages to reach there actually drain your energy) i did in kelantan is of course eating kelantanese food. There are so many Kelantanese food in KL, but the feeling of being there and experiencing the culture, mingling and socialising with the people and eat the way they eat, talk the way they talk (although, they don't really understand what you are trying to say, and you only guess what they are talking about, and ended both don't really understand each other and smile profusely as if we are engaging in a very exciting conversation, while the other person look flabbergasted because you sounded siamese instead) is somewhat very entertaining.

Enough said, lets look at some of the food I ate. Previously, I had nasi kerabu, nasi dagang, sup campur, and so on so fourth, last week I had, Nasi Ulam.

Nasi Ulam is just plain rice, which we eat with a lot of fresh ulam or uncooked herb’s vegetable, just like salad. But instead of having it with olive oil, or mayonnaise, we eat it with budu and tempoyak and what not. Accompanying the nasi ulam is other savoury dishes like chicken and fish.

The green uninteresting bunch of vegetables is the ulam. Usually it consist of the shoots of vegetable which is very fragrant, and have a distinctive taste to it, mostly minty. Then we have fried chicken, fried cat fish, salted sardine, pindang or singgang ikan patin (fresh river fish, which i don't eat, unless its fried catfish)

Then after sometime these are the only thing left, and the stem of ulam which consist of pucuk pegaga, pucuk ubi, daun selom, ulam raja, baby cucumber, fern shoots and so on and so forth. Whatever uncooked vegetables that would not kill us, or not tasteless and repugnant can be eaten as ulam.

Ulam-ulam usually have medicinal component to it. For example pucuk pegaga is said to have a compound that can kill cancer cell, and cure cancer, and petai is good for diabetic patients, while pucuk mengkudu is said to have a compound that will increase the collagen (or something that makes you look young) level to those consuming it and we will feel better, more energetic, our libido is at the high because of the clear blood flow of the body and those who ate a lot of ulam is said to have very youthful looking face.

I don't really care, i ate it because it taste nice.

You see, i like nice thing.

Because we love it so much, we went again the next day. This particular shop is around Pengkalan Chepa and very near to the airport.

This time we came early, and there are more ulam to spare.

Singgang ikan patin. I don't like the muddy taste of this fish. But the rest of the group likes it so much.

Pindang Ikan Ayer (tongkol). This one i like.

Ikan Keli Percik or BBQ catfish with sweet coconuty marinade, bbq to a perfection. I love cat fish, but i love it even better fried until its crispy and dry.

Fried chicken village (ayam kampung goreng katanya). The fried chicken is very delicious, its very crispy on the outside but very moist and tender in the inside.

pucuk pegaga, daun selom, daun apa tah.

then we have brinjol or aubergine, long beans, fern shoot, that thing which look like petola, don't know what it is called, kacang botol or something. but of course when we want to eat this, we eat it with the essential sauce, the Budu or tempoyak or sambal belacan.

Fantastically fantabulous i tell you.

And the price tag for one lunch for 4 persons, with a jug of syrup bandung is only RM28.00, you will never get that price in KL.

By the way, while i was eating there i met two of my ex students, both are doing their masters in USM Kubang Kerian. I feel so proud of them, because i finally see the result of my work. I have one who have become a lecturer, and now waiting for some of my first batch ex students which will be graduating with a MBBS from India and Indonesia soon.

I am actually very proud of myself, because i, in a way, have achieved something and have contributed to the society at large. And later, i will have more transcended success stories coming through the success of my own students.

Patting my own shoulder, good work.. good work indeed.

p/s: i will miss kelantan very much, maybe i will have to go there again next week. Because i like doing nice things.

Not all species of snail are edible, but many are. Even among the edible species, the palatability of the flesh varies from species to species. In France, two species native to France are normally used for preparing escargots. One of these, the "petit-gris" Helix aspersa, is common in temperate climates worldwide.

Well, basically escargot is just like our siput babi, except the shell is harder, and it look cleaner without the mucus. I remember catching siput babi while i was very little. Then when you caught one, you pick up some table salt and dashed some of it to the siput babi and watch bubbles coming out from the siput babi before it shrink and finally dies of horrific pain. I wonder if we can do the same to someone we hate so much and watch them shrink and drop dead of slow and horrific pain while we watch mucus coming out from their mouth like someone having rabbies.

Wait a minute, i wasnt very little when i did that, i remember doing it a few month ago.

The french people love to eat escargot and they have find ways to actually cook this annoying creatures that spoil your garden by eating all of the vegetation in it. They transformed it to an appetizing delicacies, usually served as an appetizer.

Anyway, the escargot the french people loves to eat very much, actually does resembles the siput babi we have in our garden but it is nothing near that species because it is cleaner and hopefully it will not discharge any mucus when we put salt on it.

That is what i was hopping for and keep telling myself, it is not siput babi, it is not siput babi, and babi is not actually related to a siput,

Because i just ate one yesterday.

No actually i ate 4 of them, because when baked with cheese and garlic is just fucking delicious (although, if you look very carefully the snout side of the escargot resemble some very black clitoris after it was baked, but you don't really mind because you don't have any experience with clitoris that black, or any clitoris for that matter)

Its finger fucking licking good.
with RM 27 for a dozen, you can now eat like the french.

In a quest to live well and more vigorously healthy lifestyles, I decided to have a new resolution, and learn from experiences of some people i read in the internet to walk the step, taking the stair instead of taking the elevator to my office which happens to be on the six floor.

Well only six floors, it cannot be that bad.

First floor, still walking fast and ever smiling to the student greetings salam.

Second floor, walked slowly but tried to look serious, so student would not greet me with their salam.

Third floor, walked even slowly and no longer smiling and legs are starting to get tired.

Fourth floor, stopped for a while for fresh air and tired legs gets a little agitated and starting to feel pain on the join.

Fifth floor sharp pain starting to effect the lung and felt like air is not moving, also starting to have tingling sensation around the chest area and sweat are starting to flow like rivers.

Six floor barely made it for the last stair, and the lung suddenly exploded and release enormous amount of toxic carbon dioxide with a slight relieve and some smile on the face because I finally made it.

Then walked fast to the room, switched on the aircond full blast, with face facing exactly at the aircond duct for extra oxygen, opened up a new pack of cigarettes and huff and puff like there is no tomorrow.

Lit another cigarette and look myself in the mirror and was amazed that my face looks a little bit paler than usual as if just got back from a 3 hours facial wash, with no dark pigmentation.

Quickly took picture of a pink of health, glowly healthy looking face (but will not share pictures here, because i look like a rape victim at the same time)

Then

Walked out the room,
took the elevator,
went to the cafeteria,
ordered a cup of ice Nescafe, and a cup of hot one
went to the elevator,
pressed no 6
went to the office,
sat on the office chair,
drank the whole cup of ice Nescafe in a single sip
lit a ciggy
looked at myself on the mirror

and quickly make changes and amended the new short term and impromptu resolution and swear to myself, I will never, ever, ever fucking walk the stair ever again.
